EDIS has changed their TOS
http://www.edis.at/files/7514/2537/1691/tos.pdf
As far as I can see, these are some of the changes:
Any form of pornographic or obscene content is now forbidden. Legal pornographic content was previously allowed in most locations except Liechtenstein, Chile, Germany, Italy and Isle of Man.
Torrent/Filesharing is now completely forbidden. This was previously allowed if it didn't cause issues due to high packet or I/O usage.
IRC bouncers are now forbidden. Private bouncers for up to 5 users was previously allowed in most locations except Liechtenstein, Chile and Hongkong.
TOR / I2P is now completely forbidden. Bridge, entry and middel nodes was previously allowed.
That's some serious restrictions.

Where will I host my premium adult websites now ?
Still don't really get it, they are not forced into this so a decision they have made and are entitled to do of course.
Maybe just one case of abuse too far for them.
Looks like a list of William's hobbies. Only Topsite hosting and supporting Warezgroups is missing. Maybe you can add it to the list @EDIS ?
Probably they think that they have enough customer to stay alive or the governments are taking over the Internet for real this time.
Bla, i'd never do anything with porn
So in summary, services that use large amounts of network and I/O usage will be banned.
Services which tend to cause trouble, I would say. Pretty bad and unannounced change anyway.
Yeah especially all those IRC bouncers, the nodes practically creak under that enormous load...
Change the ToS to whatever you like, but in general cases like these should be grounds for getting a prorated refund, especially on yearly plans and no matter how long into the paid year.
Well, they mentioned probably something like that in the newsletter they've sent:
«Due to the fact that you might encounter disadvantages caused by the amendments, you are entitled to make use of special termination rights.»
They didn't say though what special means.
Special means if you have a binding contract (issued on Webhosting only, at least when i worked there) you can cancel regardless of this, this is required by Austrian law on major changes of service terms. You are, by Austrian law, entitled for a refund of the unused time but only if you specifically request it.
That's BS, since it is prepaid, it is a binding contract for the duration, changes in the contract will entitle you to get the difference of the money back OR continue unabated with the old ToS until AT LEAST the next renewal. I will not go to ask my money back, I dont do this in any situation, but the option should be there.
That being said, it is EDIS's right to change whatever they like, within the legal framework, but it looks like Austria becomes a police state more and more, so they were either forced to do it, or they sold shop and the new owner demands that all "troublemakers" to be booted before taking over. So, EDIS does not care for the customers anymore, the new owner has no idea how many will leave, this is how I see it.
Prepaid (even for multiple months) does not constitute a contract - What's meant here is a real contract with a binding term and a non-cancellation clause, which is only done on EDIS webhosting (12 months iirc).
True, but the ISP can simply invoke the cancellation from their side then.
No problem, but will automatically return the money too, in this case.
Well that sucks, I own a lot of simple adult blogs and I had Edis down as a host I might like to try out in the future...guess I'll be scratching them off my list.
@William - Offtopic but do you still work for EDIS? If so I'll PM you over some issues I have.
I'm not William but I know that he doesn't work for EDIS anymore.
Yap, that was my understanding too, just wanted to try my luck since I saw him posting on this thread and I could not get a hold of anyone working at EDIS.
They suddenly didn't have any special offers anymore, removed the smallest plans, even increased prices (?) and now this. Sounds to me like they were not getting a lot of new customers anymore, so now they are maximizing profits.
Or maybe they are just cleaning up their network.
From EDIS on twitter recently.
Asked for Refund over EMail, got told to terminate that Server over WHCMS and ask for refund in the termination form.
I did, no Refund. Asked again, they told me we dont do a refund.
And the Server is offline neat, paid until the end of the year.
that is certainly a scam. open a paypal dispute, and if that fails do a cc chargeback.
Post a screenshot of the email and the ticket please
I like how everyone uses the term chargeback without thinking, if you paid with PayPal account funds you can't do a chargeback.
I wrote them back again, that i have paid it until end of the year, the response was "I am sorry, i didnt saw that you had a Micro. Yes we do a refund". But it can take 5 Days, so lets wait.
That's a serious change at EDIS.
Us ?
True but it's possible with CC (if partly funded by the cc)
How do so many people here have their own porn websites, are you making your own or just ripping off other sites imagery/vids?
unprofessional
"Torrent/Filesharing is now completely forbidden. This was previously allowed if it didn't cause issues due to high packet or I/O usage."
seriously? this shouldn't be any issue if you enforce the allowances you provide paying customers.. they should be able to use the paid-for resources as they please aslong it isn't anything law breaking. i have to agree with @kerouac on this one, this is definitly not looking professional to me.
