  • Their datacenters are in US, why you don't test US mirror? :D I did encounter slow network when wget mirror.leaseweb.com, was about 200KB/s for about a week :\ Don't know if they fixed it or not :D

Just do some test based on @Soylent post in the back page. From live chat they told me that LA dc have some problem but now already resolved.

  • tried one in LA, not impressed.
For such a price, 1IP + 20GB HD will be good enough.

I still have the 1024 one, just didnt have the time to test it again, but I will.
IMO it is worth the money, it is about the same as prometeus in many aspects, but stability and support (they say support has problems now, so I will let pass that).
Will test again these days and see how things changed if they did.

  • @giang, how has it been?
    Is your box still good?

    Is your box still good?

Disk speed and download speed are still good, but lower than the first test, of course :D Got 3 hours of downtime according to Pingdom :(

  • Thanks Giang,

  • I had about 4 downtimes in the last 5 days.
I signed up to the free pingdom account right now so I can let you know better.

Obviously pingdom didn't recognize the two downtimes at 8pm an 12am GMT+2. (which is 2pm and 6pm in that picture (timezones))

  • @bubie Why are you keeping it? I just don't understand.

  • It's the only cheap 15$ offer with US ip. Isn't it?

Maybe the downtime was too short? I'm monitoring with 1 min resolution :D

  • I'm already cancel the vps.

    Why? :\

@giang The number of downtime is too damn high.

    Thanked by 2connercg jamson
  • I'm happy I was not tempted into this.

  • Pretty sure they sold out, are they overselling?

  • My VPS is pretty stable, but I noticed there was a short network intermittent issue. Pingdom didn't send any alert though.

    DIsk i/o is fantastic.

  • Maybe network problem? Since the vps not reboot but inaccessible. I'm trying their xen plan on another node also have same problem.

Yeah, I think so too, because my VPS uptime is 10 days, but in the last 10 days, there were 30 downtimes with total 50 mins of downtime :D (According to Pingdom)

It's hard to say, disk io is still high, RAM usage in the VPS somehow lower than any of other OpenVZ VPS I'm using (With LowEndScript installed, it's using about 15MB of RAM, normally in all of other VPS I have, it should be around 100MB :)

Unfortunately I bought a VPS from them, started out lovely, lowest ping from Iceland to USA I've found yet. First it was around 102-105ms from Iceland to BudgetVM.

    Now from Iceland:
30 packets transmitted, 28 received, 6% packet loss, time 29750ms
    rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 185.272/304.440/406.469/56.977 ms

    From UK:
31 packets transmitted, 12 received, 61% packet loss, time 30093ms
    rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 168.723/364.474/511.478/116.490 ms

I submitted a ticket on the 29/8 2012 regarding enabling iptables modules needed for OpenVPN-AS server. Still hasnt been fixed.

They said they were going to fix it on saturday, replied to the ticket yesterday to ask for the status of modules and latency problems, still no reply.

No, my interval is set to 1 minute, too.
But according to the graph it was at least 20 minutes.

btw, the are still selling VPSes in Chicago and started to sell again in LA. They were sold out in LA.

The "uptime" command shows my VPS is running for 3 days now. But in this time I had 5 downtimes at least.

    One other thing I noticed:

While their test IP 199.193.252.200 in Chicago has a ping of around 150ms.
My personal VPS IP 198.71.80.xxx in Chicago has a ping of 350ms average. (205-560ms)

While I can download the testfile from http://199.193.252.200/100mb.bin to my desktop PC with 880KB/s

Download to my VPS with "wget http://199.193.252.200/100mb.bin" only gets 219KB/s

    root@domba:~# wget http://199.193.252.200/100mb.bin
    --2012-09-06 15:14:44-- http://199.193.252.200/100mb.bin
    Connecting to 199.193.252.200:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
    Length: 104857600 (100M) [application/octet-stream]
    Saving to: `100mb.bin'

    100%[======================================>] 104,857,600  219K/s   in 4m 27s

    2012-09-06 15:19:10 (384 KB/s) - `100mb.bin' saved [104857600/104857600]

    root@domba:~#

Downloading that file from my VPS to my Desktop via SFTP gets 105 KB/s average.

    ..................................

    EDIT:

The control panel freaks out, I don't know what's happening. It shows 124MB ram uses, while the solusVM only shows 10 MB ram used at the moment

    http://www.abload.de/img/wtfy0pfs.jpg

    Speedtest: http://www.speedtest.net/result/2163181618.png

  • Well this is quickly turning to crap, getting download speeds anywhere from only 20kb - 200kb.

What node are you on @bubie?

  • bubiebubie Member
    edited September 2012

I don't know. It isn't in the service description where the performance graphs are.
I got ping of 450ms and download speed of 10kB/s-18kB/s

I submitted a cancellation request to them.
Thanks to your reply I reviewed the email they sent me.

The automated reply tells me, they will cancel it next year after my billing period is over. But I selected immediate cancellation.
I made a support ticket addressing this issue.

  • @bubie you can check in SolusVM.

  • My node is dc02r01cn27.scalabledns.com

  • I'm on the same node.
