Raspberry (Pi) Jam - Nottingham, UK - Anyone going?

Hey guys, just wondering if anybody else has heard of this, and is planning on going?

image

It's an evening based around people who own or are interested in Raspberry Pi's, and how they may be implemented.

The FishPi (http://fishpi.org/) developer will be there, and apparently there's going to be some talks as well as time to get hands on to see what the RPi is capable of.

It's in Nottingham, and info on getting there can be found here: http://wiki.nottinghack.org.uk/wiki/Getting_to_the_space

I'll be going, but just wondering if anybody else was thinking of turning up?

Liam

  • If it was closer, I would do.
    It's a good two hour drive from me though >_>

    @ElliotJ Yeah, the fact that I can get a bus that goes from 2 minutes walk from my doorstep, that goes all the way to Nottingham in just over an hour, really does help my decision to go :P

    Yeah, so very rich ppl should stay away.

    @DanielM Potentially D:.. either way, I'm not going to turn down the chance to actually have a look at a RPi before buying one.

    Plus it's free.. can't really complain.

    3 hours, ish.

    Depends on the definition of continent :)

    Grr.. Nah, that's too long. I don't care about Raspberry Pi's that much..

    From you 'eh? I was over at Hilton Hotel Westminster.

  • We could have a LET meetup in Sealand.

  • +1 to LET UK Meet.

    Somewhere like, uhm, Manchester? Allows for people from all over the UK to get there, without too much bother (trains yo!).

  • VPNshVPNsh Member, Host Rep

    Manchester or B'ham.

    Although definitely should get one or two down for Raspberry Jam in Nottingham! Do it guys, get dedicated.

    People in the US will tell you that a 3 hour drive is "just around the corner", so man up ;P

    2 Hours away, Possible but I don't have any free time atm.

    I go past there quite a lot, only a like 5 minutes away from me on the number 2.

    @liam said: I think we could persuade the Melbourne Internet guys in Manchester to host it, their MD is quite young. Perhaps @jhadley has some contacts.

    @liam
    Why would you wanna host it in such a city such as manchester, why not liverpool?

  • TaylorTaylor Member

    @DanielM said: liverpool

    Because you live there :P

  • VPNshVPNsh Member, Host Rep

    @DanielM from personal experience, I've found Manchester easier to get to. Better train/bus links.

  • JacobJacob Member

    I dont like manchester centre, I feel intimidated in big city centres.

  • We could always put together the funds to rent an island.

  • VPNshVPNsh Member, Host Rep

    Need somewhere as close to the centre of England. Derby/Birmingham/Nottingham areas.

    Seems that most users are located either Manchester and Liverpool way.. or down south. Car share up to Midlands is a good compromise (y)

  • @liam said: My thinking behind Manchester is that a few of us have contacts who can provide space for a small meetup.

    How about preston?

  • VPNshVPNsh Member, Host Rep

    @liam true dat

    Might be better to have Northern & Southern meet ups rather than all in one. I'd be able to get to Manchester, but wouldn't be able to have too much of a late meet up considering I'm roughly 2 hours from there by train.

  • @DanielM said: How about preston?

    I've heard Preston is rather rough.
