  • It's sad, because many people bought these, and some of them will do absolutely nothing with those servers. :)

Which is why you shouldn't be greedy and just get one, unless you actually have a use for them.

Ha the people who pay for them then do nothing probably help balance out the people who try to download the entire internet using them.

  • Yeah... maybe it's part of the business model that allows them to be sold for that price. They'll certainly have historical data to create these kind of projections.

I will have to look at their ToS/AUP what is allowed. Usually I put up a desktop with RDP to work remotely and test things from various locations, then add Tor, freenet or maybe I2P if I think it is worth it after i have the time to check it out in detail. If Tor will eat all CPU, though, will remain like that.

I think @nekki said the CPU isn't good enough to use with RDP

  • This CPU has VIA Padlock u can add this feature to tor.

    1) No, you suck
    2) it's a CPU from 2008, and it consumes 0.2 watt in idle, 8 watt max.

You are comparing bananas to apples.

Using your argument Intel sucks too, because its processor similar to the u2250, the atom z550(both released in 2009, low tdp), needs a higher clock to delivers almost the same benchmark result.

  • rm_ said: it consumes 0.2 watt in idle, 8 watt max.

Which means idling the machine is probably around 1 or 2W with a 2.5 hdd and the small mainboard... (if the psu if efficient though, and it probably is as they have a huge volume of servers)

  • Yeah, it's really sad online.net is only providing so few of them.

  • They should only allow 1 per account, they are gonna be sold out at the same after couple of hours

    Thanked by 1vimalware
  • Probably ~1000 this time is hardly a few. They had about 4000 the first time, this time was probably just a resale of ones that people had cancelled since then.

  • Missed the first one, and this one too. How unlucky am I?

There are people buying a bunch of them, what would you expect?

  • Yeah they went within 2 hours, even though there was probably a fair amount of them.

You're right, it was going to happen this way. Setting a kidechire quota per account would have not hurt anyone but no luck on that too.
