@rds100
Look! I don't care how he spends his money..if you're willing to take the risk then go for it!
I'm not advocating against cloudatcost, just pointing out that for a new company it may be safer to pay monthly first.. I don't want people to get the impression that this deal is really viable in the long run..
I'm sure you have been here long enough and seen enough scams that I'm questioning why you are trying to give the impression that this is really possible?
@switsys thanked you accidentally while scrolling through the thread.
@earl i am not saying this is a legitimate offer, most probably it's a not - the domain is too new, whois protection, etc., etc. - sounds like scam. But i didn't like the words you used (10 years old, idiot, etc.) - those really don't belong here. That's why i pointed to you that you are wrong, and indeed pay-once-for-a-lifetime services are possible, sometimes.

It's just as possible as anything else.
I've had two of these for 7 months now. they've already paid for themselves.
And if you don't care how people spend their money, why are you being all rabid about CloudAtCost?
sometimes.
Not sure why people don't read threads fully before making a comment? but here is a quick recap..
I was merely reciprocating the same courtesy they extended to me.. Not sure why you are ok with their name calling but seem offend when I'm simply replying back?
What even? @Nekki Can this be set to sink yet?
Also why is it under providers not offers?
Well, anyone that really DO read the whole thread will note that you started it by insinuating that my account was another members shill account, and by calling people 10-year-olds and what not.
Yes, I'm still implying that you and asterisk14 maybe one of the same.. It's just odd that out of the blue you are agreeing to every comment that asterisk14 made. Why so eager?
Main drawback I see with the plans is lack of ipv6. Not sure what the reviewer meant by DNS services (rDNS is available, haven't tried to set it or install bind yet). They've added 1-2 more OS templates last month based on customer suggestions (CentOS 6.5 x86_64 with LAMP or cPanel).
you should read the commemt follow the post
@yernsun: yeah, I heard people who've signed up with them several months ago had problems, but I've not had occasion to contact support. I did open a ticket to send template suggestions (as they instructed) and it was closed 2-3 days later without reply, I just took it to mean they didn't liike my ideas.
Can you check if they allow VPN?
I am planning to setup a VPN for my family on a VPS.
I read that many VPS don't allow OpenVPN/Tunnel/Proxy
I do not sell VPN as a service.
Is 512MB RAM enough to run OpenVPN on Ubuntu 13?
Thank you.
You can run a VPN on a 128mb VPS, maybe even lower with a minimal OS. (Take a look at ramnode)
one time payment? that's something new i am hearing
it's an old practice. setup a company offer stupid pricing for one off & yearly. then run off shorty after.
Does CloudAtCost allow OpenVPN/Proxy? I know many VPS don't like it. I cannot find it in their Terms of Service.
so i got this email, when i was ordering developer product at 50% discount one time, and did not pay invoice...
Another 50% off, that was mean just pay $8.75 for one time
Great
is this a sign?
check whois for cloudatcost.com
vTech Email: [email protected]
i wonder who is JODY SCHNARR.
is it a company ?
https://ca.linkedin.com/pub/jody-schnarr/3/916/792
the man behind Fibernetics, who run cloudatcost
But it is better if they do not use a free email for a hosting provider.
for more fun/info read cloudatAcost.com (probably before ordering)
i had 97.2% uptime in December! for mine
I found an issue. IP always change if re-install OS.
I think this is normal.
I was getting a Youtube ad about CloudAtCost 2.0, with a better network and faster drives, so I thought, why not! The VPS runs fine now :-)
Imagine you have more domains and if ip changed that mean we must change ip in dns setting also.
And that's why there are nameservers and CNAME records
Change IP will need propagation time for dns again.
