mpkossen Any update on this issue? Thanks.

Not yet, sorry. I plan on looking into it this week.

    Great, thank you!

Nice thread btw, interesting information :)

  • SSL but no bloody cloudflare please. Would make visiting LET on public networks feel a lot safer :)

Great! Do you think it would be available soon or did any unforeseen problems occur?

I seem to recall in another thread one of the admins said that it was causing problems with vanilla and they couldn't properly implement it, so it's probably not going to happen.

I think it's possible/easy to enable https for the whole site - but it would be difficult to enable only the login/register pages. (From reading on vanillaforums website).

  • neroux said: I dont think HTTPS requires a why these days ;-)

Actually it does, have you seen the NSA?

Near enough right, its a pita doing the rules for the login to run via https, its easier to set the whole domain on https only.

if it's a paid cloudflare service, should be able to enable free SSL.

Yes, you have to do that once the software that runs the website is compliant with https and can handle it correctly.

Recently? Could you elaborate? Just a few postings ago @mpkossen actually mentioned he'd be looking into it. The ads issue should be resolved and I wouldnt imagine the forum software itself would have a problem.

So you want to make it even easier? ;-)

  • Would be great if ssl could be enabled :)

We might as well, clearly security isn't even secure (we've known this for a while, but it's even more proven this past year).

I am afraid I cannot agree here. Yes, intelligence agencies have a natural interest in no encryption, as it makes their job "unnecessarily" difficult or even impossible and, like some of the revelations suggest, they attempted to actively weaken some standards.

However defining security as generally unsecure is not even a vast exaggeration but simply not true.

@mpkossen : did you experiment a bit more with https? Would it be possible to enable it on LEB/LET in a close future?

    Thx!

Some rough ETA would be great ..... a week, a month, two months, never :)

Is the fact that the advertisements are now delivered over SSL a precursor of the whole site switching to SSL soon?

    @mpkossen

  • It is a nice idea to install SSL certificate. Go ahead

  • FalzoFalzo Member

    +1 ssl LET ;-)

LET already runs SSL. They only need to remove the forced redirect to HTTP.

  • It would be cool for https.

Is there any way to create a proxy with SSL?

Unfortunately it would not change anything as the connection to the site would be still unencrypted.

Yeah, but it will be on a data center, so at least on your end, will be encrypted

That is true. I'd still prefer a proper HTTPS access over such a hack ;).

Unfortunately it seems @mpkossen is not paying attention to this issue anymore.

What was the problem with BSA? It looks like they have a legit cert. and can run on a https website

  • c0yc0y Member

SSL would probably be too CPU-intensive for their super webhosting cluster!!11

Remember the "cluster" that made LET so much easier to use?

There shouldnt be any problem. The advertisements are actually already delivered via HTTPS.
