Yeah, really, and depending on how you label the packing slip, there'll be 15% of the value of the package in duty waiting for me on this side of the border. But actually, I was expecting it to be almost twice that.
Anyway, I'm going to get in touch with the person I'm hunting a machine down for and see what he says.
Also, what is the processor series, or are they those weird legacy Xeons that don't really have model numbers to speak of?
@Daniel said: I know their different, but you can fit DDR2 in DDR3 right?
It's funny but for a while, there were certainly some desktop boards -- Intel Socket 775, and some AMD ones, that were compatible with both DDR2 & DDR3. Of course, this meant 2 DDR2 + 2 DDR3 slots, and no, you couldn't run them both together.

I know my dad once brought DDR2 instead of DDR3 upgrades for his computer, and it accepted the DDR2, but also accepted the DDR3.
Then all you need is the Hard Drives & Heatsink for the other CPU, That build would involve 2 x L5420, 12GB PC2-5300P RAM, They come with 4 x 12MM Fans incase and a SATA Backplane but the cables are their so it can be used for SAS aswell.
That would cost you under 200 Quid and Easy, They are all tested before they ship 'em out and have been running smoothly for me.

Looks like it:
Is this worth it? Or a good deal?

What are you going to use it for? They're pretty old processors, from 2006. Who knows how much wear is on those hdds as well.
On passmark:
[Dual CPU] Dual-Core AMD Opteron 2218 3018
Intel Xeon E31230 @ 3.20GHz 8422
[Dual CPU] Dual-Core AMD Opteron 2218 3018
Intel Xeon E31230 @ 3.20GHz 8422
Planning on using it for some shared webhosting and VERY specific game hostsing (ArmagetronAdvanced)
Do you know of any other BUDGET high ram servers?
what do you mean?
BUDGET < ???
High ram > ???
Build your own, getting chunks/parts used/new as required.
BUDGET < 300
High ram > 16-32GB
Yes its a VERY VERY low budget
Try searching eBay for dual L5420s, they are quite cheap.
VERY VERY VERY
I CAN spend more, but I prefer not too.
I see you need such servers to run ArmagetronAdvanced, does it use more ram than cpu power?
For some odd reason, the servers tend to use more ram overtime, like a memory leak that lasts after a restart.
Anyways, CPU is a total non issue, but I would like to keep it under 2amps
Write a PM for pricing.
Would you be able to deliver to the UK?
Also what CPUs do these have? I would want to replace the DDR2 with DDR3 if it could take it.
DDR2 and DDR3 are different, you can't fit one in the slot for another. So if the motherboard is for DDR2 it can't use DDR3.
I know their different, but you can fit DDR2 in DDR3 right?
Only if you use a hammer or something.
Sure, it will fit once you force it, but it won't work.

Some guy on Reddit is offloading a bunch of old Dell kit, if anyone's still looking.
