@shoislam I'll ask you this, why did you even decide to start this site at the beginning?

Also, how did you pay for the domain name?

It's a free domain from nameserver

    You have a .tech domain??

    Github student thing most likely

    Ah right he's a kid

To fetch the video from them, they still have to send it to you. That consumes their bandwidth too. You're just downloading it twice.

    "Didnt steal source bandwidth"

    Ye man, no steal

If you are on gh student plan, Azure had free 2vc 1GB. If you are just scraping and not doing any video processing, that should be enough.

But from previous comments, you are just proxying other site's content. Then the 100GB bandwidth isnt going to be enough for you. Then bro should change the infra. You are probably not going to get anywhere with proxying other sites.

u clearly dont understand how HLS/DASH streaming works. The m3u8 or MPD file is small because it only contains the playlist and segment information. The actual video data is transferred through those segments, which can easily add up to hundreds of MB or even GB.

Since ur proxying without caching, every time someone watches a video through your site, your server fetches those segments from the original source and forwards them to the viewer. So the original server still uses its bandwidth for every stream, and your VPS uses bandwidth too.

How exactly do you think your proxy gets the video data in the first place? The source server has to send it to you. That's basic networking.

    Example,

For a 1 GB video, the flow is simple. The original server sends 1 GB to your VPS, and your VPS sends that 1 GB to the viewer.

That's 1 GB outbound from the original server, 1 GB inbound to your VPS, and 1 GB outbound from your VPS. Total network traffic across both servers is 3 GB, with your VPS handling 2 GB alone. Now imagine multiple viewers watching without caching.

And dont forget unlimited bandwidth, free DDoS protection, 100% uptime, and a provider willing to take all the legal risks for you. All for $0/month, obviously.

Unfortunately Azure is perhaps far from DMCA resistant, trust me

  • @shoislam My suggestion, join FMHY Discord (it is only open on Fridays) and discuss your project. People will be able to give you advice perhaps on why this may not be such a good idea, but if you decide to do this anyways folks might be a bit more helpful there than here.

  • Also, how are you paying for LLM tokens? Surely you are paying more than $20/year for your LLMs.
