    Nice going everyone

  • @dustinc thanks man, and thanks for sending all those reports my way. 100+ pages, and a lot of you actually installed the thing and wrote up what you found. That's gold for us. I owe a few of you proper answers, so here goes.

    @GenerallyClueless

    • Client login sending you back to the client side instead of the admin dashboard: yep, that's a bug. For now, opening /admin/dashboard after you sign in gets you there.
    • File Manager throwing 403 when you open a file in the editor: we've confirmed a bug with that symptom.
    • Email Accounts vs Email Boxes: good question. Email Accounts is the one that limits how many mailboxes a client can create. "Email Boxes" isn't used for that limit right now, which is why the form is so confusing.
    • Mailing lists: 0 means unlimited there, and the form doesn't tell you. To turn mailing lists off for a package, give it a Feature List with Mailing Lists unticked (careful when editing an existing one, other packages using it change too).
    • PHP LiteSpeed still showing up after you removed OpenLiteSpeed: noted, we're looking at that one.

    @sh97

    • WordPress: if you were installing on a fresh domain, most likely it's the same thing @borales ran into. A new domain comes with a placeholder index.php, and with "Clean existing files" off the installer treats it as a conflict and stops, and the wizard lands back on step 1 instead of making it obvious why. Ticking "Clean existing files" gets past that (it wipes what's in the folder, so look first if the domain already has content). The path field only takes letters, digits, "-", "_" and "/", so a dot or a space in the path would give you "format is invalid".
    • File Manager: we've confirmed a bug with that "Sign in to the panel" message, though the message alone doesn't tell us the cause on your server.
    • 0 domains on the admin side: we've only been able to reproduce that while the panel is still provisioning in the background right after setup. If it still doesn't match on your server, ping me.
    • "admin" being reserved: if you went with "Host my own websites" in the wizard, that username is for your first hosting account, and the panel login stays "admin". Fair point, the wizard should make that clearer.

    @rumpum

    • Root password: the AdminBolt installer itself doesn't change it. @ikunlala mentioned that the ctrl page shows both the root and panel credentials when the one-click install finishes, so that's the first place to look.
    • abcd@1234 as "very strong": yeah, the strength meter is way too generous, that's a bug.
    • RAM use and the Hindi translation: both noted, and thanks for giving the Hindi interface a proper go.

    @chengrose

    • Sidebar search: the field already has autocomplete="off", but your browser fills it anyway and the menu filters itself down. Good find. For now, clearing the search box brings the menu back.
    • Session timeout: the panel's default is 2 hours of inactivity, so that alone doesn't explain what you're seeing. If it happens again, tell me roughly how long you were away and whether you had the admin and client panels open at the same time.
    • Debian/Ubuntu: thanks, added your vote.

    @ikunlala

    • "Update status unknown" and the mail IPv6 message: both checks run hourly, so right after setup they most likely just haven't run yet. Agreed, "pending" would be a lot less alarming there.
    • The https://IP:8443 warning: noted. Meanwhile, the myboltip.com hostname you mentioned is the way to go, since that one had a valid certificate.
    • The stale "at least 10 characters" error: haven't reproduced that one yet, thanks for the exact steps.

    @weishiair @Beyfish @samuraiMa thanks for the write-ups and congrats on the VPS! If anything breaks or confuses you, tag me here.

    All of this, bugs and suggestions alike, is on our list. Keep it coming! :)

    So I finally got to installing the AdminBolt. I guess I will repeat a lot that people have said already, but here is my feedback:

    The installation through RN ctrl panel was smooth, UI of AdminBolt is clean and clear. One thing in UI consistency caught my eye: In Accounts list the "Quata" shows "X.00 MB", but Hosting Packages show "X" in Disk space and Bandwidth, and only when going to creating the hosting package dialog you get to know that these are in MBs, not in any other measurement.

    What I don't like - system memory usage is 1.2GB at the moment you have empty AdminBolt running. So 4GB RAM plan is a bear minimum I would say, maybe below the minimum requirement for anything more than private blog site.

    As for "modern" part, I would really like to see some integration with docker.

    Then there is a question for what is this panel target? For shared hosting company I guess it is enough, but for those that have bigger infrastructure (e.g. home lab), having all the features of Nginx Proxy Manager would definitelly help. Using AdminBolt I could replace some components in my own home lab - NPM with Apache/PHP server to host all the needed pages and also proxy other subdomains to where they have to go.

    Pricing. I would not pay 20 per month for my home lab, maybe something "Community edition" could be introduced with minimal payment for home labbers?
