xTom VPS lost my entire virtual disk during maintenance – no backups available
My VPS provider xTom informed me today that during emergency maintenance on their storage system, the storage volume containing my VPS virtual disk was lost.
They confirmed:
- The data cannot be recovered
- No backups were available
This VPS was running a monitoring service for an project, so this caused a serious service interruption.
I would like to know:
- Is this affecting only one host/node or a wider storage system?
- Are other customers experiencing the same issue?
- What compensation/recovery options were provided?
Anyone affected by this incident?

@xTom
Does their services / tos state they include backups? If not or they state you are responsible for backups that is your own fault, dataloss can happen at any provider and unless you normally tick a box to buy an upgrade its down to you
That's why you keep your own backups, kiddo.
