Autistici Inventati is being designated pursuant to E.O. 13224, as amended, for having materially assisted, sponsored, or provided financial, material, or technological support for, or goods and services to or in support of, an act of terrorism.

Apparently because the Palestinian Action protest group used it...

Their main domain got put on serverHold just minutes ago. They are an Italian non-profit email provider that fills a similar niche as Riseup. I really hope they don't have to change their mail domains or I'll have nearly 100 services that I'll need to change my email with.

https://inventati.org/ is still up and discusses the sanctions, but links to their blog which is down.

Been there, moved a lot of stuff to (addyio) e-mail alias accounts because of it. Out of 60+ email changes I've done in the past year or so, changing my Escape From Tarkov account email was one of the biggest nightmares, support acted like there was a hostage involved.

I'm not well versed on how sanctions are enforced when it comes to domains but I can say that:

Most of their domains are .org and .net, and both of those registries are American.

10 of their domains (incl. cryptolab.net) are at Porkbun (which is American)
13 of them are at Gandi (French), 1 at Tucows (also American)
1 is at a Norwegian registrar (their singular .no domain)

Considering the autistici.org serverHold is from the registry, I feel it's very likely the .org registry is going to put the other domains on serverHold too eventually.

I'm also guessing the domains at Porkbun are also effectively gone unless they transfer out (and again, maybe they'll just get serverHold by the registry anyway)

Why not riseup tho? They are based in US, so takedown power is limited.

Cock.li is also some choice, if we are looking at providers like this.

Cock.li would be nice if it had more deliverability. I used to use it but left due to it repeatedly getting hacked and finding that nearly 50% of my outgoing emails were just getting dropped, not even sent to spam.

Since they are sanctioned now (and if you care about visiting the US again in the future), the unfortunate reality is that people should to be careful about using their services and especially careful about making financial contributions. Doing so can make you ineligible for US visas, ineligible to hold bank accounts in USD (anywhere in the world) and all sorts of other headaches.

Even if the sanction is repealed later, any support while sanctioned is normally still considered a crime.

Just something to be aware of if you feel like supporting A/I right now and if you also later plan to visit the states. If US authorities find out, your vacation or even just a layover in the US can turn into a longer visit.
