In the age of AI, poor configuration is rarely the main issue. Any serious application today requires a significant amount of RAM, and I have to distribute the workload across several VPSs from different providers.
I know that ISPConfig 3 can be installed on a VPS with 128 MB of RAM and used to host around ten domains—I did it myself back in 2012. But what can you actually develop on a server like that? Practically nothing. It may be capable of installing and running everything, but it is far too limited to support real clients. If you want to build something serious, you need more resources.
Found the issue.
AI is infamous for giving really, really bad configuration advice that is blindly followed by people who don't do any profiling.
I’m a pragmatist. AI has helped me identify inefficiencies and significantly reduce CPU and RAM usage. I believe in it because I’ve seen the resource-usage graph plummet.
So you’re saying you used to need 12GB of ram for your website?!
I run you a whole ass gameserver in 6GB RAM, stop using Node lmao
Said a guy who still wondering how to optimize their site xD
I hope you are really joking.
based on last time i do load test, a single 1vCore/1GB VPS can handle around A single Mybb Site With 30 Concurrent User Per minute ~~Almost equal to 50.000 User Per day
and that is without too much enhancements. and may can handle much more if more experienced admin/dev do it.
Only 30 per minute? Probably tweaking the database slightly should bring that up to 100+.
No, not even a poorly (actually not at all) maintained Windows Server is that demanding. This is my homelab "throw everything on it and never remove or even exit a single thing because I restore it to an image every now and then" running SAMBA for 8 disks, a handful of clients, file indexing, currently checksumming around a goddamn TB of shit, one RDP user blah blah blah

Shut down only SOME of the crap

So not only was that claim exaggerated but factually just pure bullshit.
What do you use most of your VPS servers with less than 4 GB of RAM for?
I know you have a lot of
My-idlers, gatus, irc bouncer/webclient, server stats, nginx instance, some other self hosted stuff… plenty of personal/self hosted stuff works fine in 1-2gb of ram.
Now I understand why you don't need a lot of RAM...
For $5, I got 5 TB of storage for a year [Google Drive]—Gemini PRO came as a free bonus for one year.
you got an offer i wish to get the same
claude||codex||kimienvironment (because who would put it on your local machine???)I run emby server on 2 GB RAM. It is also running a seatable instance in docker and 5 python app.
