    Sure, just DM away.

    Some project updates!

    • A new Redeliver action has been added to re-send an already delivered email. This is useful if you've deleted an email by accident and its still in our archives. Easier than downloading & importing EML's!
    • Our cPanel & DirectAdmin plugins are done and will be distributed to all the nodes this weekend.
    • We expect to do the cutover from Spamexperts in the next couple weeks.

    To prep for the cutover we'll sync all existing domains, routes, & settings. We'll lower TTL's this weekend on mx*.mxfilter.net so when it comes time its a painless/quick cut over.

    Automatic adding of domains to Reseller logins will remain a 'manual' thing for the time being. Once our new site/billing are online we can integrate it with CraneMail, but hosting will most likely always be a manual thing.

    That was yet another example of discussing how good it would be to have a new feature and Francisco having it implemented in 5 minutes :smiley:

    As a Namcrane webhosting customer, is it possible to test this without affecting my existing hosting setup? I have a few domains I’d like to use for testing and experimentation.

    You can pick/choose which domains you want to route through this. You have to update the MX records on every domain you want to cut over.

    Later this month the mx?.mxfilter.net records will be cut over.

    New improvements.

    You can now tweak how the antivirus works in regards to blocking & macro's.

    The whitelist is so you can protect a domain and only allow the users that actually need it (say, a finance department that ships excel docs back/forth all the time).

    This is also a reseller domain default configurable:

    Thanks!

    For us poor sods who never switched to SpamExperts - should we expect no changes at all (ie still have our "spam protection" ran by SmarterMail alone)?

    Correct, we aren't forcing anyone thats raw dogging it to move to this. You should but you do you.

    @Francisco recently got a Cpanel crate recently. How do I get access to the reseller version of MX filter? I'd really like to a see if I can block spam on all accounts at once.

    Shared/Resellers don't get access to the reseller portal, it'll likely stay as a CraneMail exclusive.

    Thank you. Any chance that we would be able to universally mark an email as spam or block it? That would help tremendously.

    Training spam/ham is localized to a single domain, there is no 'reseller bayes' setup, its per domain.
    If you have some 1000% spam that we're somehow missing then you can provide us queue ID's and we'll gladly merge it into our global bayes which would cover all domains.

    You can actually forward full EML's to [email protected] and it'll train it as spam for that domain. It must be an EML though, it doesn't support inline forwards since thats tough to get consistent.

    @Francisco when will we be able to login to this new spam system? Spamexperts seems to be partially disconnected, and I haven't gotten a response for my ticket for a week now.

    Also can you add support for + aliases in emails, so verp bounce handling can be used?

    PM me your ticket ID, i'm sure its in my queue and I can add your domains to the new system.

    You'll have to update your MX's for inbound, but if you only care about outbound for the time being that doesn't require any changes at the moment.

    Explain the plus addressing stuff to me in PM and where we're borking it for you. At the moment that should be just fine, I don't think we're blocking that in any way.

    This emails going out to all NameCrane customers!

    Hello {$client_first_name}

    We’re happy to announce the full roll out of our fully in-house Anti Spam system, MXFilter!

    MXFilter has been in development for much of this year, with many users daily driving it, and all of them preferring it over SpamExperts. If you’re a visual learner, you can check out https://files.namecrane.com/mxfilter/ that includes screenshots of the interface.

    Before we get into the platform and why we’re changing, we’d like to personally thank the 1000’s of domains, and 10’s of thousands of users that have taken part in the beta. Your trust & feedback has been invaluable.Truly, thank you.

    Tons of new features

    MXFilter brings in advanced filtering with per-domain bayes, allowing for users to personalize their filtering just by marking emails as ham/spam. Our baseline filtering is quite good, outright beating SpamExperts in every metric we, and our testers, can come up with.

    With personalized bayes the system automatically trains on what you want treated as spam, and can help with scoring emails in languages we don’t have a large enough training base. You don’t have to worry about other domains in the system contaminating your training, its yours and yours alone.

    Users with CraneMail resellers will be able to make ‘reseller’ level filters, allowing you to create rules/filters that apply to all domains, instantly. Resellers also get the ability to brand the login, page, quarantine reports, and SSO emails, with their logos and colours. You can also brand our MX servers (mx1~mx4.mxfilter.net) to your own (mx1.yourdomain.tld), along with the portal URL.

    Unlike SpamExperts, MXFilter archives all emails, even ones originally “Rejected”. This allows a user to login and release or redeliver an email without worry.

    And finally, a fine-tuned in-house LLM assists in scoring emails, bringing context & worldly knowledge, something bayes & RBL lack.

    is this replacing SpamExperts? Why?

    Yes. Over the course of the last 2 years of using SpamExperts we’ve had no less than a dozen hard failures leading to emails not getting delivered in either direction, platform failures, core features breaking and taking weeks/never getting fixed.

    The breaking point was earlier this year when their auto updates forced our instance to start outright hard rejecting all emails. We had a ticket open with them for a literal month after this in hopes of addressing it, but only got the usual boilerplate replies.

    cPanel and DirectAdmin have already had their SpamExperts plugin replaced with MXFilter integration. CraneMail users will be able to continue using workspace.org’s SSO, or using the CraneMail portal in billing (the link will obviously change from ‘Login to SpamExperts’ to ‘Login to MXFilter’ or similar).

    What do I have to do? Does my pricing change?

    There shouldn’t be much needed on your end. We’ll import all domains, routes, & rules, from SpamExperts and cut over the DNS records. You might want to login later in the week and give things a glance, but mail flow wise all should be well.

    Your pricing won’t change, if anything this protects us from any future price hikes SpamExperts would’ve implemented.

    When is the cut over?

    The tentative cut over will happen on Monday, July 13th, around 2PM PST. All staff will be hands on deck for any issues. DNS will be set to low TTL’s allowing quick cut back in the unlikely case we need to.
    There is a small chance that some emails that were passing through SpamExperts will get flagged on our side. If that happens you can login, train, & release, without worry of losing anything.

    Quarantine Reports will be automatically re-enabled when your domain imports. You can login and disable them and remove any existing reports.

    Users that have custom MX records instead of using our *.mxfilter will want to open a support ticket to get the new IP addresses.

    Thank you everyone for taking part!

    Hi Francisco

    So for customers ( like me ) with mx1~mx4.mxfilter.net already configured, the change will be automatic ?

    mx1 = nevada ? mx2-3 ? need to change priority of them?

    Yep, you'll have to do basically nothing for the cut over.

    we have up to MX4, each being a proper location now.

    mx1 -> Vegas
    mx2 -> Netherlands
    mx3 -> New York
    mx4 -> Singapore

    You can shift your priority as you see fit, but i've been recommending 10/10/20/30 or 10/10/20/20.

    I've taken the liberty of reformatting your comment using the Quote function, which makes the quoted message much more readable

    You used the Code function for this (also in the past), which isn't the best choice for quoted text
