I have moved my contents from xhost to limitless.
I haven't got any mail regarding KYC but I definitely do not want to be worrying about if I might get one in future.
It was a good service but this uncertainty that lingers doesn't make it worth it.
People should just do mass chargebacks at this point IMO
KYC for budget web hosting. Lol. 2026 is crazy.
If no price changes, who's absorbing the costs of these checks? (xHosts claims they're billed for these but the first fifty are free...I don't know how many users they've targeted).
This only applies to your shared hosting accounts because it's a resold platform, right?
If they're smart they're only targeting users who paid >3 or 6 months ago (after the chargeback period is over) depending on the payment method.
ouch, don't give them suggestions / ideas
If they do follow through with this (already have?), I hope the verification is not like Hetzner's. It is so hard to pass their checks and my account always seems to get closed instead.
Apparently it is. Already people who have sent valid documents are being terminated: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/215069/xhosts-uk-wordpress-lifetime-has-been-suspended/p1
Depending on the credit card, some cards will let you chargeback even past six months. I don't really know how that works, but at least that's what one of the card reps claimed to me.
