Wow, hopefully it's isolated and not a big issue. Very unfortunate and a huge hassle for them if so.
This doesn't look great. I hope not all customers have been encrypted.
Something like this happened to Colocrossing as well last year.
In any case DO NOT PAY the ransom as it will only incentivize extortionists.
They most likely won't give your data back anyway.
I just hope you have good backups of those important services.
The main server got hacked. I don't think the data can be restored.
Yes, all four of my VPS servers have gone down. I've been using their products since 2019, but they've become increasingly unstable over the past three years. If they don't improve product stability, I probably won't consider continuing to use their products.
Cloudcone -> Cloudgone if nothing happens.
what VM panel are they using?
small company donot have the ability to deal with security stuff
hundred bucks seems cheap!
I definitely hope for the best outcome for them. I had used their services in the past, and they were always great.
Fixed their status page

That reminds me, I need to back up my stuff. Doing it right now.
Why in the FUCK are people paying the ransom?
This only encourages them.
I don't think they actually are. But still, $100 is cheap if you have important data and don't have a backup.
Expensive way, if you don't get scammed, to learn that backups aren't optional
You say that... but someone would have. And that makes me...
Hello this is CloudGoon support, how can I help?
Best I can do is $7.
I don't think that they are gonna give the data tho.
They might as well then see that you are desperate of your data and try to extract even more.
Suppose you gave 100 and then they might ask for 50 and then so on
plus this would now have sunk cost fallacy where you felt like you already gave money in first place, might as well give more money to then get data
but the point is that they are scammers and they wont give your data until they compeltely extort you and even then 99%-100% that they won't give your data.
Please don't pay these scammers. Chances of you getting scammed are 99.99%-100% imho
Literally not worth it at all Please do not pay these scammers anything or entertain them imo
Actually many scammers return the data when paid the price negotiated in the first place as this increases the chance, that another victim will also pay the price to get their data aswell. It's a bit like getting "good reviews". Holding onto the data and demanding more money are less likely and these are only the "stupid" scammers or "pathetic" scammers that need money asap.
Suprisingly there are a lot of documentaries on YT or in TV about this ^^
All 4 of my servers are in the same boat.
You are right, ignoring it is the best way against these kinds of scam, but... this requires either the data not be (that) important or having an offsite backup or not even having enough money to pay the scammer in the first place
I'm poor, when I get hack I cancel the service altogether.
My VPS server at Cloudcone is still operational.
Bets on the root cause? I'm saying insecure IPMI.
Can anyone login to client area? I can't.
@Cloudcone im sure @ColoCrossing can give you some consultancy about how to manage the crisis when your nodes are encrypted and how to deal with leaked customer data.
Spoiler: play dead
Unfortunately @Cloudcone does not have the admin here as partner for protection. That tactic won't work.
I can get to the client area fine still.
