Hostslick network issues?

First of all, I am aware of Hostslick's ongoing(?) network upgrade.

Before opening a ticket with them, has anyone else experienced intermittent flaky and slow network with them for the last few days?
Like no more than 1MB/s up/down, single stream.

If you have Ticket then it will be answered Office hours, mo-fr 9-18:00 CET.

But as i have been lurking Here in Last hour i can answer you,

    Currently hard Times.
Network is congested right now. But Not long anymore.

Im waiting for Some Remote Hands in our new POP NIKHEF, Amsterdam for Our Juniper there, so i can finish Network upgrade and get Our GTT live and Hand it over to our Juniper MX960 in the Datacenter.

We have signed 3x100gbit GTT, enough capacity. For next months.

Provider Just finished our Wave from Amsterdam to our Datacenter on Friday evening. GTT Ports on our Juniper in NIKHEF Amsterdam are already Up.

I think end of this month we will have 500Gbit/s in Transit alone.

Im also currently working on 100G ERA-IX, 100G frysix and 100G interix. Been in contact.

Tomorrow will be busy, better reach via ticket. I dont think i will have any time to answer Here at all if there is any questions from your side. We will get this Network upgrade finished then and the to-do list is full. Unexected Delays where Here and there, Check announcements on Website for explanation
Even Delivery of the Network Equipment for our NIKHEF POP we Launched was delay.

For me, the complete opposite, I've experienced 1MB/s downloads for many weeks prior to this, and am now maxing out my 10MB/s home connection. Just an ad-hoc test, hopefully a permanent fix from this weeks upgrade.

  • Thank you a lot for that writeup! @HostSlick

Actually decided to not create a ticket because my intention was to not disturb you, which went in opposite direction.

Kind of expected it has something to do with the upgrade announcement.
It's not an issue at all, just wanted to make sure this is to be expected at the moment and nothing else is wrong.

Surely after it's finished it will be fine again :)

my server is down Please check Ticket #093977

  • CalypsoCalypso Member

I guess a book can be written about everything that didn't go as expected with this network upgrade...

24st Feb: 1st or 2nd week of March
10th Mar: was planned end of 1st week March, now beginning next week 17th March if not ended by this week
6th Apr: Completion during 7-11th April
14th Apr: Waiting for remote hands

    Must be frustrating...

    Thanked by 1Egyarmy
  • i thought i received an email sometime ago stating network upgrade completed or something. did not read too much into it.

My vps has been down for 24 hours, Virtualizor panel says something about user id not found. Doesn't feel like a network issue, more of a hypervisor thing.

i recall them mentioning congestion and a pending network upgrade last year. either theyre growing faster than they are scaling network or are having serious trouble with this perpetual upgrade

    That was another upgrade.
The amount of active dedicated Servers more then doubled from last year

I have 48 Blades now in the Pipe for restock Next 2 weeks, more later.

With the current Upgrade and opening POP in NIKHEF its being prepared to scale faster, especially we add our first Tier1 with, as said 3x100Gbit, GTT.

Some Business Partner helps me to get Indian Support Staff Up. Will take a Month or two until they trained but hes already on it. With that Help can cover the VPS Tickets more easy and focus on the Main business. I Look to grow more in The dedicated Thing. Eventually shutdown vps over next 1-2years. I'll See.
Otherwise i have two Freelancer helping right now , especially when i be on vacation next week is where is to hand it over
