    We can open port 25 with the correct justification

  • AK_KWHAK_KWH Member, Patron Provider

    we can also allow port 25 but we need justification

  • What kind of justification do you people expect out of curiosity, other than "I need to send emails"?

    I guess companies just want a confirmation that the port won't be abused.

    Would anyone actually tell them that they would do abuse? :D

    Allows companies to ask a few questions such as

    What domain will you be sending from (brand new domains or ones like miicrosoft.com ) will be a red flag

    Check places like fraud record, have they been reported by other providers

    Have they placed their orders using a proxy, vpn or vps from another provider

  • I see, makes sense. Thanks for the explanation

    Nah they all gonna lie but at the end the company can atleast be like "you promised to not abuse" and instant suspend lmao.

  • its one thing to have port 25 open and another to have other mail servers to accept your emails and not directly send them to the spam folder.

    Hi,

    since when are abuser's admitting that they are abusers? ^^;

    I am not sure if this will work out well :p

    So this all justify thing i do not really understand.

    I do understand that you will filter ports by default. Simply because you dont want unskilled users to get hacked and being missused as what ever.

    So a simple "please open the mailports" should be fine enough.

    But this "why" alias justify... i dont understand that.

    And sorry, edit for the topic opener:

    @ououpol

    https://layer7.net/cloud-server

    all ports open by default. But we are not abuse friendly... so if you plan to catch abuses, better choose another provider.

    Most VPS providers block outbound port 25 by default to prevent spam, protect their IP reputation, and reduce abuse. However, many of them are willing to unblock it if you submit a request and explain that you're using it for legitimate purposes, such as running a personal or business email server. This request-based approach helps balance security and usability - it keeps the network safe while still allowing genuine users to access necessary services. Providers often require a simple confirmation or agreement to their terms, and if any abuse happens, they can easily revoke access.

    Did you think for one second? OP has red flags as a spammer and it would already filter many spammers from the start. Most people would rather a proactive provider, not a reactive provider dealing with issues after instead of before.

    Hi,

    i dont know where you take from the wisdom that the topic opener is a spammer or not.

    Of course, you can prefilter tons of usecases and people. Maybe you wont like chinese, as they are all hackers, same with russians... actually to be sure, take the whole eastern europe...
    Then filter all africans, they anyway have no money, so if they offer money, its anyway stolen. Similar to most asia and south america countries.

    And after a long story of GEO filters, you can start filtering black people, white people, small, fat, slim, who ever, including your noise neighbor you anyway dont like. So most probably he is also some kind of scammer, spammer, fraud, what ever.

    Or you will just not do this prejudice and filter people who are known / proofed to do shit.

    You are free to handle things how ever you like it. Please allow us the same.

    Correct justification doesn't always go the way they justify. So either you open the port or close it without their justification.

    We ask a few questions, do background checks, I won’t give too much away on the forum because giving all that info gives the wrong people information to get around these checks.

    We have only had a handful of issues and most of these have been issues such as outdated Wordpress plugins that became exploited, very few actual customer spam abuse issues with the checks I do before allowing the mail ports.
