@wadhah why don't u provide the deals??
Sure, anyone want a 2.98/y in the middle of the african sahara in my shed?
We'll do a camel race
We all have to share a 1mbps up though.
ok done but I want 2.98 gb ram dedicated
Whatโs everyoneโs plans with the new shiny 8500/9500s?
hmmm idle? maybe...let's get it first and decide later
@ZachNuyek are you showing photos of these racked? I maybe have present for you on these nice little HPs.
I don't have any right now ๐ค what is that present lol

+1 @crunchbits told me he would punch my baby if I didn't buy his servers and the next day he actually came and did.
You don't wanna mess around!!
@ZachNuyek just saw your response to a request thread, and it got me curious: why is the network back hauled from Kansas. Why not some nearby place like Chicago/NY or even Minneapolis?
Sorry if this was discussed before, if so I have missed it.
Our latency is the least to Kansas. Chicago is actually around .3ms higher but probably still a far better location.
I'd prefer St Louis but... I cannot find any decently priced colo that isn't breaking the bank.. ( if you have contacts pls? )
We mainly require GRE/BGP and nothing else, our main provider told us I could do BGP about a year before I opened but they kind' of backtracked on me. Oh well.
If you have any suggestions please drop?
always want to improve but working with what I got. I am fine with Chicago too, we just have a very attractive offer from NOCIX colo (pretty much remove all power for bandwidth link)
Currently the network is pretty poor since my GRE is actually being done over software and it's dying now since so many PPS. I already have new devices ordered.
@sh97 Oh yeah, are you thinking we're near Chicago? I'm actually in South IL like 30 minutes from St Louis
๐ ๐
Highland Park, IL is Chicago
Some tips:
Thanks for the response
Yeah KC is insanely cheap for what we have.
St Louis is about 2.6ms-3ms total latency while Chicago/KC is 8.6-9.2.
Just remember that the majority of your traffic probably won't "end" in STL. So sure, a bit less latency to your handoff but then where does it route from there? That is where places like Chi/KC shine more, most likely.
We had a similar deal in PA. 99% of customer traffic isn't terminating in PA/Philly. We could go 1ms to Philly, or ~4-5ms straight shot to NYC (avoiding Philly). In reality: Philly at 1ms ends up slower since we go 1ms --> Philly + ~4-5ms --> NYC via Philly. Even a bunch of local ISPs all do handoffs/IX in NYC despite being maybe 30m away physically.
Networking is fun and also a gigantic headache, and nobody knows exactly what they have and when you start asking too many questions you routinely get bumped down the list until someone is desperate for a sale
@ZachNuyek I hear he.net is better.๏ผ I wonder if their quote meets your cost requirements?
Interesting point that didn't cross my mind..
Honestly most of our traffic probably would still hit KC/CHI. I'm 99% no matter what we hit STL first then KC/CHI for most, I'd have to check what path is taken for south/east
Not sure I'd have to see (: and check a lot..
@ZachNuyek
Thank you for fast support response.
now when can we have sex beers together ?
virtually

Yea, that makes sense. My American geography isn't top notch. I was thinking you were somewhere near Chicago.
@crunchbits need to improve your training for the company onboarding
So, they were all by the lake?
M y it s only know calinfornia and florinda sua location
