@noob404 what prize are you going for this time!

Frankly, would be happy with the backpack.

If you win something I'll trade that with the backpack I may win 🤣

LOL! You have better chances of going for the top prizes than me. Don't mind my current pace. Will have to slow down pretty soon.

    Hahah, you will win something.

Let's hope so. Frankly would be happy with the backpack.

Would be same for me. I'm not even sure what I'm going to get.

This is what I am thinking. Maybe a drive on my local machine with a Wireguard tunnel setup using DNS (I have dynamic IP). What do you guys think?

Check out Tailscale if you haven't yet!

Yup, someone else recommended this as well. Have had some experience with Wg earlier. That's why was opting for it. But, Tailscale seems to be much faster. Will check it out then.

Tailscale is based on Wireguard, but I just love the convenience of it and ease of use. I have it installed on everything, so I have a secure connection between local and remote machines all the time, with a full web control panel.

Well, that's what I am gonna go for then, given there's an Armbian package for it.

    There sure is!

@DaDeveloper Youa re in top position now. Keep going. The Acer Nitro laptop (1st prize) is priced the same as the Skytech Gaming PC on the BF thread. And, Ig, this is the first time, an i7 laptop is up for grabs in a RackNerd GA.

That would be nice if I could get it, but I also want to not always be glued to my device all the time

Well, I promise not to compete for the gaming laptop. Infact, I really need to get back to my work. I won't say no to the backpack though.

Thanks. Let me try for one or PS5.. :p

Good luck, bro. The PS5 digital edition is cool as well. But, the games are really expensive.

You can just subscribe to PS+ and enjoy the game catalog (it's quite a lot).

Nah I prefer to OWN what i pay for

That's a good point as well. Companies be getting greedy nowadays.

One of the few reasons I want to get a job is to get storage to download all of my GOG games

If you are a mid-serious gamer, that's a good motivating factor then.

Nah I just dont trust the tech companies to not try to screw us over

    Another good motivating factor.

Noob! Are you ready for the engagement this time? You're getting the first prize for sure again 😁

LOL! No, this time around, I am gonna hang back. Will be active for a few more days, bu,t starting Jan 1, gotta really get back to serious work, if I wish to come back for BF2025 action.

Oh! But you did win exciting prizes! This was pure hardwork.

Yes, I did. Thankful to Dustin and RackNerd for everything they have been doing for the community. BTW, planning to participate in the GA?

What do you mean by GA?

    Give Aways

    Yes sir.

BTW, this is an attempt to install a disc drive onto the OG PS5 Digital -

Didn't PS5 now has seprate disk drive that you can buy?

Only for the PS5 Slim version, not the OG

Ah, scalpers are already reselling it for double

    PS5? is that rare?

Not sure of this in the current market, as we are already way past the semiconductor shortage during Covid. So, even if there's scalping, it won't be as rampant as it was when the OG PS5 launched. But, launch consoles are sought after by many, for jailbreaking and for nostalgic purposes.

Go for it. I have 20TB RAID 10 at home + Usenet subscription. Couldn't be happier.

20TB HDDs or SSDs? It's quite impressive anyways. D

It's just HDDs on 4 bay HDD Dock connected to old laptops with software RAID. But hey, it works! 🤣

Does this also host your media server, or is just for backups?

    Mostly media, and some backups.
But for backups I also store a copy on a storage VPS I got from BF and another copy on iDrive E2.

Well, that's good enough for most people's needs. Your comment on older laptops just gave me another idea. I could use my Android box for this. Would install Armbian on it and connect a SATA dock with the said HDD to it and setup the Tailscale/Wg tunnel and use it for backups. This way, I don't have to worry about electricity bills that woulda come with usage of my PC for the backups.

    Seems like a solution.

Yup, already have Jellyfin running on it.

Yah, maybe I should invest in a few 1GB RAM storage VPSes just for backup. Or, maybe, I could setup a HDD on my local machine to rsync backups directly.

Definitely! You don't need RAID most of the times.

Yah, I don't have much important information.

Maybe, but it just saves you headache from data losses

It does, but, I am on a tight budget.

Yes then don't just use a disk for backup

Will keep that in mind. Thank you.

Also what is status of shipping in this giveaway?

No international shipping. Either you can use forwarding service, and pay local customs. Or have some one in US bring to you.

I think @TrK has better information on it.

Yes, i saw something about that.

This is what I am thinking. Maybe a drive on my local machine with a Wireguard tunnel setup using DNS (I have dynamic IP). What do you guys think?
