  • @hosthatch Please check the ticket 582510, i want to change the biling cycle to upgrade for 2 year payments.

@hosthatch said: All sales are final, and we cannot offer any changes to them.

  • Do you allow seedbox on the storage plans?

  • I have been using HostHatch for ~6 months now.

This was after I tried a host of other VPS providers.

Value + Performance = nobody comes close to HostHatch.

I am a DIY sort of guy. I don't need their support and as long as the infrastructure is the same.

I was tempted to get the 3 yr deals, but I think that is greed (in my case).

I ended up getting 2x 1 yr deals for servers in HK and AU. I got an upgrade and saved money!

Now, that is a real deal.

  • What I'm missing are Vienna and Zurich deals. What I don't miss are ppl who post their invoice numbers here as if hosthatch doesn't have other things to do… „me first, me, Hello Hello, it’s me hello give me attention. I want to Pay nearly nothing, so you have to provide me 247 support!!!!!!!!“

  • Bought one in SG finally. I think now I should wait for around 2 weeks for provision.

  • @hosthatch paying throgh bitpay is a PITA

is it possible to send directly to you with say ex: binance pay?

if needed, i can open a ticket.

  • Just now, I place an order, why submit the order, the invoice is been cancelled, what's the problem?

    turn off your VPN/proxy

  • been using @hosthatch VPS for 10 years. to celebrate, added another 3 years to that.

  • Have a Black Friday deal from HostHatch (obtained in prior Black Friday sales) coming up for renewal.....but doesn't look like the servers in this deal will be provisioned in time. Renew for another year?

  • "Page not found". What's the problem? I woudn't have registered if I can't buy the offer...

  • Sorry, the page you are looking for could not be found.

24 hour limited promotion. Prabably they removed now.

I don't think it's allowed, but needed @hosthatch word on this.

They don't allow heavy CPU usage on the storage plans, and are a registered company in the USA so would have to comply with US law (i.e. not "DMCA ignored"). For heavier CPU usage, they recommend getting both a storage VPS and an NVMe VPS and mounting the storage over the private network using NFS.

^ Someone messaged me about how to mount the storage via NFS. I've got a guide here: https://d.sb/2020/12/nfs-howto

One update since I wrote that: For HostHatch systems in the same data center, you do not need to use encryption (WireGuard) any more since they now have private networking, isolated per customer. You need to enable private networking on both systems in their control panel, and give both systems an IP in the same range (e.g. 10.0.0.1 for the first one and 10.0.0.2 for the second one)

for Tokyo only? Is that other locations do not have 2X RAM, 2X storage, and double bandwidth for 3 year payments  or other locations have 2X RAM, 2X storage, and but no double bandwidth only  @hosthatch

Quick question, if I am to mount the VM over the internet with around 80ms of latency, would it be better to mount it over NFS a wireguard link or some other protocol (currently using FTP with rclone mount)?

Depends on your use case. An NFS client is built-in to Linux, Windows and MacOS which makes it pretty straightforward to mount. 80ms latency shouldn't be a major issue.

SFTP (file transfers over SSH) should be fine too. You just need an SSH server in that case - it's built in to SSH.

Regular FTP is very outdated and shouldn't be used any more.

I have been using Windows RDP on the storage vps and keeping the average cpu resource usage under 20%

My VPS has 4 vCores / 4 GB and that helps.

Out of curiousity, what happens when the WireGuard gets disconnected?

  • Dang I really wanted one of those storage servers :D

That is not Windows 11 OS.

I am running Windows Server 2022 and I would recommend minimum of 4 GB and 4x vCore.

If the connection is lost and the server isn't reachable any more, any reads from or writes to an NFS share will be queued, waiting for the server to come back. You can set a timeout, but the default behaviour on Debian is to wait indefinitely.

This is one of the cases where you can have a high load average but low CPU usage, as processes that are waiting for IO count towards the load average even if they're consuming very little CPU power.
