Anybody having issues with Apple Mail (yuck!) on Sequoia 15.2?
I've been trying to add my account as a generic IMAP account but can't get past the username/server wizard (using the IMAP credentials from my account as well as the manually entered server details). Have also tried username and [email protected] for the user (Thunderbird didn't need the domain and worked perfectly).
edit: Looks like after having it sit there for about 25 minutes with a spinning wheel, it added the account (?!). This is for a 5gb email account.
Can you pm me the domain and I’ll check your dns

I'm without my email for 2 days now but I know it's Christmas so waiting patiently for a fix
Can we delete the workspace-verification DNS entries after domain verification or is it best to keep them there?
How are MX records related to aliases? I would imagine that mail hosting only once requires setting MX records at the DNS level. Thereafter, any aliases can be created. Do I have the wrong idea?
Well, for a domain alias, DNS needs to know where to route the domains email...?
Yep, go for it. If you remove and re-add the domain you'll have to re-do the verification (and note the UUID will obviously be different).

In past experience with other mail hosts, one or two MX records are required for example.com. After that, the host can begin sending and receiving mail for unlimited numbers of local-parts at example.com. Does NameCrane follow this practice or do something differently? I am ignoring any use of sub-domains.
Does this imply dozens of MX records for dozens of aliases?
It's just one MX record per domain alias (in the domain's DNS records) if using default (non spamexperts) CraneMail setup, or four if you're using spamexperts.
ps: damn is it CraneMail or MailCrane?! (my brain keeps on changing between the two?!)
After disabling greylisting, it's much faster now. Will monitor for some time.
Sure, but you should still use spamexperts.

Will check it on another domain before activating on this one. Thanks for your recommendation though.
FWIW I'm having a good experience with it since switching to it. Even trapping spam Fastmail wasn't!
That's awesome to hear

I'm confused, so I did a web search. It looks like the word, "alias", can have more than one meaning. Are we talking about a situation that involves more than one domain name (eg, example.com and example2.com) or a sub-domain (eg, sub.example.com)?
A "domain alias" would be pointing like:
All to the same set of inboxes. If you don't need separation of the domains/inboxes, then you can just 'park' one on top of the other.
Francisco
Okay, I'm learning. If that's a "domain alias", then how should we refer to one of multiple local-parts in one domain name (and no sub-domains)? Is that simply an "alias"? So the vocab would be:
domain alias
"user alias" or "forwarder" is what DirectAdmin likes to call it.

@Francisco when will the deal end? I’m planning to upgrade my lifetime plan but am still waiting for that wage, ya know, as I am not but a humble worker for capitalists
. Is it until the new year?
Mike is aiming around the 1st/2nd.

@Francisco Can you have a look at my ticket (Ticket #CRANE-7502) please? I have a special case as you know, is there an exception for my request? Deeply appreciated.
Sure, will look in a sec.
Just working on the cranemail backups.

Any thoughts on omitting a CNAME record to point mail.example.com to us1.workspace.org? Would it break anything to not have this record? My concern is that it could make attacks easier: An attacker doesn't have to figure out where to begin poking.
Nah, no issues. You can just use the us1 hostname to login/configure mail clients.
Backups are now in place
Francisco
If they're kept in the EU, I know two LET users who may hold them hostage until mail is set up in that region
You know, I wonder if I even can put the EU backups in the US, maybe that breaks GDPR. I'll have to check with my beta users.

@Francisco any upgrade to the lifetime deals is possible at the same rates by the end of this month?
