I'll give away a free .ST domain (3+ characters) to a random person sometime within the next 24 hours after this post. To enter, just reply with whatever. Start a conversation, share a photo, or just pointless bump.
Pointless bump...?
pointless bump 😌
So your previous message is meaningless at this point?
pointful bump
"Back to LET roots type deal" is micro server stuff. Our available OS templates won't install with small boxes. I tried, and would have to increase the RAM just to get them to work properly. Not really worth it, to be honest.
They could work if someone installs from ISO or updates an old template (Ex: Debian 9) via CLI to bring it current... But I have little faith that it won't be a massive headache even if I put a ton of disclaimers making the restrictions clear. I just know I'll eat fees when someone wants a refund.
I'm not really saying no yet, but I'm also not saying yes yet either. Was just going to release like ten of those plans but that's ten IPs reserved, ten accounts in WHMCS added to the total they bill us for and 10 potential issues for zero profit. Wasn't much of a concern when I thought it'd work out of the box with 256mb of RAM like it used to. Was hoping the issues that made it stop working previously was fixed with their OS templates.
Sup peopleeee how's everyone
Sleepy
Can't beat me is currently 4am here
Excellent!
Another pointful bump!
…nice
Count me in! 🎉
Like the boss here said…at Incognet, the BF deals are crazy cheap. After the HostSlick and Crunchbits fiascos, I’m wary of any BF deals that are too cheap.
3:30AM here. Rambling around South East Asia all year.
Nomadic and free.
count me in.
Won't be in time for Black Friday but the first week of December there will be maintenance in our Kansas City POP that should bring it to production standards... After that I will likely have some hardware sent for VPS hosting, so maybe by Christmas we'll have plans available in KC as well. Just hired a new network contractor to bring things up to standard and am excited that after over a year we'll be ready to roll there.
Will do a thread with deals there at that time. Also have a bunch of blade stock available but can't sell anything until after the upcoming maintenance.
Was pricing out some larger storage servers earlier. What do you all pay per TB? What sort of RAM to HDD to CPU ratios make sense? KC is well connected and centrally located making it ideal for backups for any other US location so its something I'm looking more into.
Pointed Bump
Thanks for the giveaway!
Mmmm .st domains....
Whose hungry?
Myself included...IncogNET? IncogYES.
Again, 60 GB disk for $60 IS lowend for MannDude. The price is a deterrent for scammers and abusers. Not to mention a great way to support his other privacy projects.
uuu.st
that's awesome
whatever
cool!
Pointless Bump
(edit) If I win, please spin the roulette again. I will idle it even if I get a new domain ...
BuyVM's $5/1 TB is steep, but that's why I pay for it.
I'd be happy to go to $30/1 TB at most.
I've had good performance at a ratio of around 1 GB RAM:2 TB HDD. I'm not sure what the industry standards look like.
