Anyone had their hosthatch server down?

Hello everyone, one of my HH server went down unexpectedly yesterday, and yes it is a promo server, I have contacted them via ticket but no one replies after 22 hours. So I want to know if anyone has experience this too.

I tried restarting to no avail, it kept saying it is offline.

I want to add more info, the server is not pingable (it will hang when I try to ping), ssh shows timeout error, it is not accessible either with vnc or in browser console on hh dashboard—the strange thing is the other server is not affected, I can access them just fine.

My storage server was down too (compute not affected), I restarted it and it works fine. This is in Stockholm location.

  • It's been down for almost a day, and they haven't resolved the VM for me.

  • My SG VPS is up.

Maybe some other SG servers impacted?

But loay said there is issue with his storage server in Stockholm, not SG.

Not sure how this links up, some VPS down in different locations?

I’m not sure if the issue with my storage VPS is related. It was down an hour ago, and since I hadn’t logged in to restart it, it did not boot. It might be a software-related issue on my server.

my storage at Stockholm was off as well for few hours until this morning I woke up, manually start it up in dashboard and it is up again

as long as the it still works , little down time is okay for me.

with this price range, can't complaint too much

I am not aware of any ongoing or recent downtime. Once we've investigated the problem with your server, we'll reply to your ticket with more details.

    Ticket id is #249715, thanks

  • My Stockholm VPS didn't seem to have experienced any downtime

  • Down for me for the 3rd time in the past 3 months

Today its been down for over 8 hours

And I find it ridiculous that Hosthatch can come here and say "I am not aware of any ongoing or recent downtime"

They seem to be never aware of their downtime, they never even admit it on their status page...

Mostly my VPS with HH is in Singapore and so far i don't encounter any downtime

Right... says Someone registering a couple hours ago...

  • Trusting their services may cost me my job. The VM has been down for 41 hours, and my company's websites are experiencing the worst downtime ever.

Hosthatch still hasn't found a way to resolve the issue or respond to the ticket.> @plumberg said:

I registered here after Googling "host hatch down" and finding this thread...

In the past it was down, also for 8+ hours and they never posted anything about it online... they hide their uptime status from the world...

You have members here saying their HH servers are down, and HH themselves saying they are not aware of ongoing or recent downtime...

    What is this?

Are you serious? You host company / client sites and you do not have any contingency plan?

I feel bad for your company.

I am not saying that the provider may not have issues but onus always lies on customers to have disaster recovery / contingency plans to make sure if shit hits the fan, there is a way out

Seriously, start looking for alternatives if your sites are so critical and plan for emergencies.

It happens to even thr biggest cloud providers. Backups/ disaster recovery is non negotiable.

  • I have 5 VMs with them, all in Singapore; 1 is down, and the rest is okay!

So now the problem is the customer, not the provider? I have never seen a provider with long downtime without a plan to resolve it or say on the forum that they don’t recognize any downtime or respond to the customer ticket.

You should at least feel sorry for the customers!

I empathize. But how is the provider coming in/ acknowledging it (but it may take a long duration to get it working) fixing your down vm? What if something catastrophic happened?

Are you going to sit down twiddling your thumbs hoping your server comes online?

You claimed that you may loose your job over this downtime. And you still are not seeing the deeper meaning of my comment?

If it is critical, customers ought to have your backup plan. It goes for all providers.

I have been in the same situation (multiple providers) and learned the lesson hard way to ensure there are contingency plans. It costs more. But gives peace and sleep at night.

Wish you the best and hope the server comes online soon.

Strangely still no replies with HH, and as of now, there's three more server goes down (at the same time) :|

  • I checked manually cause concern, but it looks my 2 VPS SG was up. Probably I got same node for my 2 vps

  • After 48 hours, my VM is finally up.

I learned my lesson the hard way and will create a better backup plan. I also plan to move some of my websites away from them. I tried to avoid making negative comments, but their services have proven unreliable for me 4 to 5 times this year.

  • LisoLiso Member

Yeah, my vm is finally up again

  • exact same @anrikaz

any suggestions where to go next?

    I am thinking Vultr

You don't run anything mission critical to a business without a support plan. Did you get promotion servers or did HH not respond to paying customer in 48 hours?

Because that's your answer on the root problem.

It's not your money out of your pocket. Let the business pay full price and get full support.

    I have 4 non-promo servers at hosthatch.

One of my Hong Kong servers went down like this last week. Fortunately I could turn it back on.

Unfortunately the cpu steal goes up to >10% daily even though I have it restricted to dedicated cores only.

I submitted a ticket but after 1 week, the issue was not resolved. The last reply I got on this was 4 days ago.

My guess at what happened? The hypervisor got oversold or died so they moved the vms to another machine which was already at full capacity.

It seems like cheerleading for HH is going on here by making the customer guilty party.

Since the business is paying, so that concerned person shouldn't be worried.

    Why?

There is 40+ hours down time. No reply against tickets and it's the customer who should take the blame?

    Are you kidding?

  • Maybe the customers should be patient since you guys most likely got these on sale. So support will take longer than usual unless your paying a premium price...

I paid full price, still waiting for the problem to be fixed for 7 days now.
