SG.GS bandwidth is pretty premium compared to the blends provided by most APAC providers, would like to see the base instance go down to like $6-7 instead though.

Also inclusion of China Mobile optimization via Level3 would be a nice touch ;)

Oh also, if you guys added access to a fibre link for optimization between EU and APAC it would probably draw in a lot more in terms of customer base -- although I do see that your latency between Hetzner FRA and Hetzner SGP is only ~180ms which is pretty good! Would be nicer if more EU => SGP routes were like this tho :)

    Hetzner Falkenstein/Nuremberg to GSL Singapore = 154ms ;)
I personally prefer GSL, although SG.GS seems quite good

GSL is good with data transfer between APAC and other regions. Between APAC and more specifically around SEA it's not as good. SG.GS basically peers with everyone everywhere and around SEA that makes all the difference, especially since they seem to have PNI with a number of carriers that are known for shitty public peering links.

    You can compare yourself:
    GSL: https://ping.sx/ping?t=103.167.150.106
    SG.GS: https://ping.sx/ping?t=5.223.7.195

    Also:
    GSL: https://ping.pe/103.167.150.106
    SG.GS: https://ping.pe/5.223.7.195

For what I see, GSL is slightly better.

You're not going to find the actual ISPs in SEA on any looking glass you need to start tracing to speedtest.net entries unfortunately.

This is not really the problem, it's more about bandwidth and reliability. Basically everyone peers at SGIX but the quality of their peering there is ... vastly different depending on how much money they want to make off PNI.

to which eyeballs/isps? not seeing any issues so far with gsl.

malaysia's tm, singapore's singtel, indonesia's telin, vietnam's viettel, are all fine over gsl.

They will also hold a raffle...

To celebrate the new location, we will hold a raffle with a chance to win a merch package. The top three winners will also receive either a Lego Hero or a Lego data center model. All you need to do to get your name in the hat is order a server in the new location in Singapore, test it for a month, and send a mail with your account number to "[email protected]". For more information, see our terms of participation.

Good move, let's hope this does not affect the price of the German region. It would be bad news if this growth meant an increase in our reference provider.

This. We strive very hard to keep our prices as fair as possible. We did not want to offset the cost of the new location by making existing locations more expensive. You can also see this same philosophy in practice with our dedicated servers -- the ones in Finland are cheaper to reflect the cheaper energy costs there. --Katie

Traffic plays a major role in the costs of our cloud servers. Our analyses have shown that the majority of users tend to require less traffic. Therefore we adjusted the included traffic. This means that the many users with low consumption do not pay for the few users with high consumption, and we can make the prices fairer overall.
