Dear friends of Lowendtalk,
I ordered a 1€ month vps server from strato.de
After the order I never heard back from them.

Is it normal?

    My (1€) strato server works great, but what does "I never heard back from them" mean exactly? Did you get no emails at all? Can you login there?

    Yes no emails at all.
    Only the automatic order confirmation 9 days ago then nothing

    They have only phone support. It doesn't seem normal to me in 2024.

    I just linked my card no money was taken.

    They have only phone support. It doesn't seem normal to me in 2024.

    I was able to contact them over the website, but I can't find anymore how, but that wouldn't help you anyway as you can't log in.

    A few months ago, I had a similar experience with them. They sent me a marketing email this month, which mean they have my information but haven't activated my account. I'd prefer they leave it deactivated. I don't trust this type of company with my data.

  • It’s not unusual, their email sending service sucks. I had to change my email to gmail because my default mailbox couldn’t receive stratos mails (only some, not all).

    You need to go to their web portal and initialize the vps as well, going through a setup wizard. You also must open up port 22 (manually on their cloud-firewall) since they have all ports blocked by default.

    Before you do all these steps, you won’t be able to access your vps.

    As far as we know they only accept purchases from Germany or EU countries. The OP was probably from some other country they don't like and they banned him.

    This is what I wanted to hear.
    The last time this happened to me with another provider they went bust in a few years.

    Yesterday after my post, I ordered the 1€ vps again (second time) on their website.
    I received now an email that I can login to the control panel.

  • After the order they send you an email that you need to contact them by phone but the next day they will activate the service.
