Yeah, I think 99% that "timeout" due to sanctions.
Or may be @desperand got same geo-block from other country.
This problem isn't because of sanctions. I'm from Ukraine and used their services briefly for backups until I found out they weren't good and decided to stop using them. But back then, I couldn't delete my account or close it, even after asking support to let me leave.
What did I get in return? Lots of spam emails every week, praising how good they are. I tried unsubscribing from their emails and even deleted them all and blocked them.
So, I don't like them at all, even though they're cheap. There's a price that's okay for services, but idrive doesn't meet that quality for me.
Now I use different services for storing files and rely on r2 b2 for important data.
I kinda can see why Russia would be blocked due to the sanctions, but why Ukraine?
What are those other services?
@DataMan2024
In general, pretty worth it for the price. No significant issues
My only issue is that the "Awaiting Capacity Expansion" with various geolocations i.e. singapore.
Can't seem to see if Singapore was ever available in the last year I was with them, for example.
Support did not give an indication for ETA, unfortunately.
I've only been using it for 2 days and haven't noticed any problems yet.
I've been using it for 2 months for a personal game server project with AMP, and it works very well. Buckets, versioning and object locking work very well.
I tested Wasabi and Storj for a while, but the offer I had at the time and the cost benefit of Idrive were great.
I got 2TB for $39, I know it's a first year offer, but for my purposes it was great.
It works fine, when the regions are reachable. I'm "suffering" with Frankfurt not being reachable from multiple networks due to a fault on the IMDC connectivity side of things. Takes idrive about a month to fix it.
I had the issue in Paris at some point as well towards G-Core's network, which they fixed.. eventually.
I reactivated my account, they gave me 1TB for free for some months.
Edit: The slow transfer mentioned earlier was related to Stratos Hidrive.
Another happy iDrive customer here. The actual S3 service has been solid, and customer service is responsive.
I like b2
I am currently using B2, but I am considering migrating to E2, but I am not sure about its stability. Did the original poster end up using E2's object storage service?
