They wanted managed hosting, that's only a server+a license.
But why ? for a webshop its not necessary. You can just take every cheap simple managed webhost and just use cloudflare for your DNS. So latancy should not be an issue here. And why the hell would you buy a server locally for a website with a webshop. You guys like over complicating things it just doesnt make sense. This guy can be on his way for like $10/month any VPS then install a free control panel Virtualmin will be easy for him if he used to Cpanel then let Cloudflare run the DNS and youre set. For this kind of usage the location is not an issue.
Do you mean cloudflare only for DNS or also as CDN? If the latter, multiple problems:
1. Webshops are not that static, not everything can be cached => high latency/reaction time
2. MitM, I wouldn't buy from someone using cloudflare as proxy as I don't trust cloudflare
And not everyone likes cloudflare.
And why shouldn't they simply buy what they want/need?
offcourse for CDN otherwise it wouldnt make sense
what is the reason you dont trust cloudflare ?
Iam giving him examples of how to get it done cheaper.
Why you try to let him pay more ?
This is lowendtalk you remember
I simply don't want that someone (unnecessarily) reads and could manipulate (sensitive) data (passwords/IBAN), and depending on the country and website it could also be not allowed. Also many don't like this centralisation.
And I don't see much of an advantage using cloudflare + some webhost vs simply using one webhost without cloudflare for a webshop as the main content usually isn't static.
Yeah right because Cloudflare has time for this, some major shops use cloudflare and you are scared they steal your IBAN hahaha you're paranoid
If his purpose is getting good latancy all over the world it would, this is the whole purpose of a CDN and since he can use it for free I think he will not regret this. Then he doesn't have to take an expensive host in Singapore but can take a nice cheap host maybe from here.
I had shops running trough Cloudflare never issue always runned like a charm.
Well the whole point is they need a server in Singapore DC, that is simply what they are looking for in the request. I also don't trust Cloudflare either, you may want to take your time to read this: https://0xacab.org/dCF/deCloudflare. The problem is already mentioned in my last comment and @lukast__ 's comment, latency, you don't use a CDN to make the load time going up. Your shops may be global, but OP is not.
Thanks @Valk, @lukast__ and @WhiteRoseG for your discussions.
Lets just keep it simple. Our customer base is only in Singapore and being a not so techie Webmaster Girl (just want things to work without much headache).
There are options. For one, I opted for Singapore DC from overseas Fully Managed type of Webhost due to the fact Singapore based Webhost charges very expensive.
I can also opt for a KVM type of VPS or better still VDS - Still Singapore DC, and possibly get Spanel.io to help manage the server. (Runcloud, Etc too technical for me, and no email out of the box).
I also require at least Annual billing (thats why Vultr etc, not suitable)....
And I do use Cloudflare for its CDN and DNS even now with A2hosting but it did not help in the speed.... Haha... Even thou we are hosted in Singapore DC.
That's a typo mistake, sorry for that. If you still have any question or doubt let me know
I know that you're somewhat fixated on a SG location, and I generally agree that for web hosting local is better, but I am going to go against the grain here and suggest checking NameCrane's new Crates. People are commenting that this is a very fast and very good new service from our friend @Francisco who is well known here. Sadly, not immediately, but sometime in the future they are expanding to a location in Asia, potentially SG.
You also mentioned a SG based VPS and runcloud, etc., but no email ... email can be handled well by our friend at MXroute, @jar as there is no reason that email has to come from the same hosting, or provider.
@Alento -- We need to keep billing simple as well so one hosting billing rather than 3 (Runcloud + CloudVPS + Email). So We need a simple setup, just order and go.... without needing to do too much and worry later...
@Francisco -- Namecrane's Reseller hosting for Cpanel looks good -- The Crates pricing also not bad... . -- but too bad no APAC locations. And these Crates -- are self-managed type I presume? No Fully Managed server?
If billing is an issue, I could create a custom package for you and bill you in one invoice rather than each part being billed by each provider. What specifically is the issue that you require annual billing rather than monthly? I could even invoice in SGD provided you paid via bank transfer.
RE: Namecrane's crates, they are fully managed by NC. They are basically supercharged cPanel or DirectAdmin hosting, with your own dedicated resources, not competing for shared resources as most shared hosting is...
@Alento Thanks. We can only pay via credit card.
The issue is having to get reimbursement every month.. administrative headache. We prefer to Prepay .. best is 2 years Prepayment.

Thanks for the interest
SG's been in demand, we'll see what we can do on that front.
Francisco
@Francisco Any Estimated Leadtime if you are getting SG DC? hehe, WE are looking to change Webhost in Nov this year -- nearer to Black Friday / Cyber Monday..
Having massive headache now on what and which to choose.... haha
Managed VPS with Cpanel and Litespeed would be too expensive for us apparently.
So current offerings, I think Reseller Hosting maybe can try... Shockhosting -- but its unlimited SD Space worries me. Any other recommended RESELLERS ?
Self-managed KVM VPS -- I can try with Spanel.io (Full Managed Server Service) but then again its a risk to take.
I just checked, just my Wordpress (Woocommerce) /Uploads folder alone (I use subdomain for this, so its not in wp-content/uploads --- its close to 20GB used and still moving up as we are adding products and photos still .
16GB Emails (Woocommerce Cpanel alone)
The rest are system / hidden files within this Cpanel.
The other 2x Cpanels -- with Simple website and Emails -- likely will add up to another 20GB.
