I prefer .uk which costs only around $5/year as well as renewal. It's a trustworthy TLD that doesn't look spammy.

You prefer .uk? Ok, name all .uk domains..

  • .my.id = $0.84 (registration)
    .my.id = $0.84 (renew)

I do not recommend TLD(s) that using subdomain such as pp.ua.
I would like to recommend to use .com.
You can buy this 8~9$ in most of average registrars per year.
However, It's little low chance to you can get your favorite name on .com tld.

then I'd recommend .cc tld. It's also own by Verisign and they sells this calling "the next .com"

You can buy both under 3-9$ at spaceship.com

If you finding really really cheap one even it's looks like spammy,
I'd recommend nummeric xyz domain like someone mentioned.

Lastly, I will highly not recommend to use these tlds like .xyz .site .wrork etc for company website.

Well, there is/have been quite a bunch of extensions being marketed through this approach (from .ws as supposedly website or worldsite, over .co to .cm and .bz as short form of the practically failed .biz - even something as silly as .pw tried to become a generally accepted extension as personal web) and the claimed goal has never been achieved.

I figure out of all those extensions .co probably still has the least amount of stigma and highest overall acceptance. I kind of like .cc too as it's aesthetically pleasing to me but as far as reputation goes it'll never become anything .com like. Historically it seems to have been quite popular around asia but beyond that the extension is practically 90% personal/hobbyist and shady stuff.

As far as repurposed ccTLDs go i guess only real major success stories would be .tv/.fm/.me and for a short time .to (when url forwarders were still a thing).

I've got one of those 6-8 number .xyz domains which renews at 1$/yr at Namecheap iirc.

DE domain with netcup comes to 2-3€/yr on sale iirc

Well, .cc surely isn't on the level of .xyz or some similar garbage extensions but anything really cheap would probably be spammy by definition as spammers wouldn't want to pay a lot on their throw away domains too.

.uz (registered at local registrar) is 17000 uzs≈1.6 usd

Is this only for citizens of Uzbekistan?

  • I see a new blog post...
Anyways, tldes.com has a few registrars more than tld-list.com.

Doesn't seem this way but no privacy is a non starter for me.

You prefer .uk? Ok, name all .uk domains..

ac.uk – academic (tertiary education, further education colleges, research establishments (such as the British Antarctic Survey) and learned societies)
.bl.uk – used solely for the British Library
.co.uk – commercial entities and purposes (the most popular second-level domain for .uk, majority of .uk registrations are on .co.uk domain)
.gov.uk – government (central, devolved and local)
    .judiciary.uk – judiciary of England and Wales[22]
    .ltd.uk – limited companies
    .me.uk – personal names
.mod.uk – armed forces and Ministry of Defence establishments and systems[23]
.net.uk – ISPs and network companies (unlike .net, use is restricted to these users)
.nhs.uk – NHS organisations and trusts
.nic.uk – network use only (reserved exclusively for Nominet UK)
    .org.uk – not-for-profit entities
.parliament.uk – Parliament of the United Kingdom and the devolved national parliaments and assemblies
    .plc.uk – public limited companies
.police.uk – police forces in the UK and law enforcement organisations.
.rct.uk – used solely for the Royal Collection Trust
.royal.uk – used solely for the royal family website
.sch.uk – local education authorities, schools, primary and secondary education, community education
.ukaea.uk – used solely for the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority

.co.uk, .ltd.uk, .me.uk, .net.uk, .nic.uk, .org.uk, .plc.uk and .sch.uk are managed by Nominet UK and except for .nic.uk are available for registration by the public (though they all carry various degrees of restrictions). Other second-level domains are managed by various government agencies, and generally more strongly controlled.[24]
    Inactive edit

.govt.uk – former government domain, now deleted and replaced by .gov.uk.[citation needed]
.orgn.uk – former non-profit organisations domain, now deleted and replaced by .org.uk.[citation needed]
.lea.uk – local education authorities; since fallen out of use.[citation needed]
.mil.uk – the Ministry of Defence have always used .mod.uk for their external domain, but use .mil.uk on their private network. .mil.uk exists only as a CNAME for .mod.uk in the .uk zone file.[citation needed]

    Rejected edit

.cym.uk – A second-level domain for Wales; it did not have support of the Welsh Internet community, with a .cym domain being proposed, though later rejected. Top-level domains of .cymru and .wales have since been delegated to the root in 2014.[citation needed]
.scot.uk – A second level domain for Scotland; it was rejected by Nominet.[citation needed] A top-level domain of .scot approved on 10 June 2014[25][26] and been delegated to the root since 13 June 2014.[27]
    .sco.uk – A second level domain for Scotland.[28]
.soc.uk – proposed for Social and Society use.[citation needed]

Just from the top of my head, these are the ones I came up with.

.uz is not only for residents of Uzbekistan.

Whoa, that site is awesome, thank you. They also have a neat API.
