Java or javascript ... Forum is based on PHP or not?
Why wasn't the date in footer automatic year with JS?
Just static text all these years?
Date in javascript? tafak. PHP is the answer. Does vanilla has it's own template engine, like smarty or so?
All of this and https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/174694/year-in-copyright-footer/
because you wanted to add this:
{$smarty.now|date_format:"%Y"}
FreeBSD please.
It's funny that I broken LET for 30 minutes with such a trick!
Embarrassing
lol
Much fuss for something that's actually not needed, a copyright footer have no real legal meaning.
And even if it did, adding a date to it makes no difference at all since all copyright starts the moment the work is created.
Not entirely sure what they're asserting copyright on anyway; the vast majority of content here is community-provided and most definitely not copyright LET.

community-provided
I'm pretty sure they have a carefully crafted ToS that asserts contributors grant them a license; they're still not claiming copyright on it though.
(I was going to check LET's ToS but.... there isn't one?)
You could have asked me for help
I am happy to help
It is, but this part is a Smarty template which doesn't use PHP.
Now that is interesting...
Sounds like you need to read the docs.
https://www.smarty.net/docs/en/language.variables.smarty.tpl#language.variables.smarty.now
https://www.smarty.net/docs/en/language.modifier.date.format.tpl
again
Now you're just talking crazy.
