Has freenom eventually died?
I know it has been going downhill and stopped registrations etc.
But now find that my domains (on .gq .tk) are no longer resolving and this is two seperate (legitimate) accounts.
I use my own NS and these are fine.

Try to open a ticket or write an email to [email protected]. There are posts on Reddit where domains got back from pending state.
The same problem here, just renewed domains and they are in pending status.
.cf is also not working
Has freenom eventually died?
Almost! Checkout this article.
https://domainnamewire.com/2023/12/18/what-to-do-if-your-domain-at-freenom-opentld-expires/
The domains I have / had were working fine till about 24 hours ago. As they are .tk and .gq I don't beleive ICANN and deregistry is associated with this.
The domains are showing 'pending' and I did renew both for another year about two weeks ago.
Any others with .tk .gq also offline ?
Yes. I also sent an email to freenom but they haven't responded yet.
Since yesterday all my domains are pending... I don't have hope in them anymore
Were you able to login to freenom to renew existing domains until recently, even after the stopped accepting new registrations?
I just wanted to do that and i get the following message: There are no domains elligible for renewal in your account
Also I cant change any settings.
Yes - last renewal was on the 5th.
You can / could only renew 14 days prior to expiration for the free domains.
If you are looking for alternatives, there are
Some of these are closed and some aren't simple sign ups.
freenom had gone since 2023, All domains under freenom was country level domains and their contract with actual domains owners is expired.
Exactly.
Looks to be. All mine are done. Tried that emailing trick and I'm sure their either overwhelmed or just done done.
Where/when was this announced?
Freedom not freenom.> @JosephF said:
Its almost a year or longer since they falling apart and getting sued.

gTLD appears to have been transferred to Gandi.
I don't know about the ccTLDs because no information has been released.
That is actually really interesting. I know for example .ml has just been returned to local people, probably a university or similar.
That worked for me, my .tk is back up and running now.
Gandi took over their gTLD registrar operations, not their registry operations.
You are a lucky man, I sent email in early 2023 and still not received any response.
Maybe due to that, my domain was .ml domain.
Got the email saying all mine are back. Now if they end up being 9 years with Gandi that would be the ultimate win
I'm going to try it too...
Why would Gandi continue it for free?
It's a stretch. But since they're now "paid" for 9 years that might make me the domain owner when Gandi takes over.... if it happens cool. If not 🤷

They were sued a long time ago, they stopped new domain registrations and then eventually died out. Was good while it lasted
Woa. This has actually encouraged me to send a mail as well.
I have opened a ticket and sent an email - still don't expect any response ufortunately.
The same...
Arethey restoring only certain TLD domains and not restoring other TLDs?
