VPS for hosting WordPress sites

I am looking for a cheap and reliable VPS in the US/UK/EU to host a few WordPress sites with very little traffic on LEMP.

1 or 2 CPU cores (shouldn't be extremely old)
2GB memory
20-50GB SSD storage
50-100GB monthly bandwidth
Should have excellent connectivity with Cloudflare POPs and no network congestion

Nice to have but not mandatory: IPv4 address, custom ISO, DDoS protection, backups/snapshots

I want my sites to load reliably and consistently at all times. I don't need Ryzen 80000 Giga XL cores or 1000gbps networks.

    monthly budget? if you only need to host few wordpress sites, hostbrr cpanel/directadmin is fast and very cheap. 10$ per year for 50GB storage and 3 core ryzen + 3GB RAM in LVE limit. I use the directadmin webhosting in singapore region. its scored 9.4 in wordpress hosting benchmark.

    these are hobby sites so i don't wanna spend more than $5 a month. looking for a vps to tinker around rather than standard shared hosting (i already have a shared plan with a provider and am very happy with them).

    What makes a shared (or reseller) hosting plan unsuitable for your use case with very little traffic?

    Shared hosting is sufficient but I want to tinker with a Linux box

The inconsistent performance drives me nuts, and it's certainly not a configuration issue (I use pretty standard debian12 + php8.1 + nginx1.24 + mariadb10.11 + redis7.2).

    The RackNerd team also recommended OLS. Perhaps it will work better than nginx, though I have never heard of nginx having performance issues.

    Yah. My first bet was to go for Nginx. But, I found that OLS is slightly faster than Nginx in many cases. Moreover, with WP cache for OLS, you could have better performance.

    In terms of being cheap, Hetzner is a really good option but it seems you cannot use them. I suggest using Kuroit; they have WordPress hosting and Shared hosting too.

    As a user of their BASIC WordPress hosting plan (£10.00/mo), I can vouch for them.

    Given the results have literally been published today, have you looked at the Provider Poll?

    Pretty much any of that top 10 would fit you perfectly and within budget.

    Thanks, that's a lot of resources at very low cost. I'll take a plan and check the performance. Personally I would be happy with a quarter of the memory and a fraction of the network speed for similar price as long as network consumption or resource overuse aren't an issue.

    That's interesting. I've been using Mxroute and love their service. Also have a couple of RackNerd VPSes, and while they provide excellent value, I occasionally see strange slowdowns on my sites when fetching small static assets or cached pages from the origin server.

    Are you caching the static assets? Put cloudflare in front and setup some page rules to cache as much as you can. I have a WordPress site where I cache everything in wp-content with a page rule, indefinitely. If anything needs to change, just purge the cache.
