I've been using @contabo_m VPS S which costs 5.99€ per month with 4c/8g/400gb ssd for a shared hosting and it has been performing great with no downtime for a year now. This is in their Germany location. Other alternatives would be @PHP_Friends 2c/10g/80gb nvme (7.55€/yearly contract) or netcup root servers 4c/8g/160gb nvme (8.24€/yearly contract) both more reliable and performs far better than contabo. I have posted a review for those providers with yabs.

Here is the yabs from the contabo VPS S:

4K IOPS on Contabo SSD VPS is quite harshly limited which is fine if that's not important (low database load).

I never understood what ppl are finding so extraordinary regarding Contabo. Maybe 3 years ago might have been something out of the ordinary but now everyone can offer similar or better stuff.

It's 60€/year for 4c/8g and 400gb ssd or 200gb nvme and no blocked ports. I had good experience with the vps node and for a year now no downtime.

I am thinking of moving to Prometeus BTW. I will consider it once my current Contabo subscription ends. Thank you for the yabs.

The above is 54 a year and the SAN looks significantly better than that "SSD". No blocked ports, but Prometeus has a very harsh policy regarding abuse, new customers (less than 1 year in good standing) get terminated at the first serious offense (scanning, spam, DoS). Prometeus runs a business network with one of the cleanest ranges in the world and we intend to keep it that way.

I agree, just not in the first year :P We don't advertise anywhere where noobs could be lurking, mostly professionals are there.

He's a bit aggressive, not even checking user history or at least trying to market for the service without assuming bad intentions. I will try Prometeus for a month and share my experience. I am new here so I don't know about their history but they seem to offer good vms.

Not assuming bad intentions. I was specifically warning you about your customers, not yourself. many people come, setup VPNs, proxies, shared hosting and advertise in god knows what corner of the internet then say, hey, it wasn't me, a customer did it.

I think a fair warning is in order for that. Neither us, nor you want to be caught in that situation.

  • loayloay Member

@Maounique said: I think a fair warning is in order for that. Neither us, nor you want to be caught in that situation.

Yes, I understand but it would be better to suggest checking the AUP/TOS on the website. Mentioning the shared hosting/customers use case is just to give an idea of the VPS requirements (low volume emails/enough storage) and that's why I was suggesting and comparing this to contabo.

  • Avoro, great network, great support

As I said, people running VPN/hosting companies think that does not apply to them, since they were not the ones running the abuse, then they would just suspend the culprit and done.
Well, that does not work for us, if people are reselling our services, then they should take full responsibility for their customers' actions as we do not have a contract with those.

Hardware-wise is definately not oversold as Contabo is, though Contabo's ridiculous amount of BW/month (even in Singapore) is just not obtainable anywhere (though I've heard Contabo's SG network is dogshit)

I thought this was the rule with every hosting provider!

I tried to buy a Prometeus VPS last month but was blocked for being suspicious. I was not even using a VPN to buy.

Sadly, no, there are many people who say they are not at fault, they suspended/terminated the offender, we are good to go. Some are even asking for an IPv4 replacement since the old one has been blacklisted.

That usually happens for incorrect address or incorrect marking of the IP by the provider in some databases. But, yes, we have set a very low threshold for automatic orders, if over that a manual review is necessary.
