    is ipv6 working now?

It will be available very shortly. Right now, the priority is getting everyone migrated and online as quickly as possible.

A service is not considered online until its IPv6 is working.
    IPv4 is considered secondary.

Seems things have calmed down a bit

KUDOS to George for taking decisive action!!!

I say that even though I have been in limbo for two weeks...
(OLD IP is still working, but I suspended my DNS replication since it will break when migrated...)

The UPSTREAM has had FREQUENT and intermittent connection failures over the last month or two. ETHERNETSERVERS (George) has been one of the few reliable and affordable providers and has always been able to resolve small problems quickly and courteously. I am quite sure he/they had to take this drastic step because the upstream was unable/unwilling to resolve the issue...

THUS, IMHO this emergency migration is a good thing for all (most?) clients. My only complaint (not worth a ticket) is the lengthy wait without eMail/update... (Must login to the status page to see - a list of those new node names...

    cheers/j

PS: George, time permitting, give a bit of a timeline - please, thank you.

I appreciate the kind words :)

The last couple months (data center fire, migrations, etc) have been extremely challenging - mentally and physically included, but the migrations are almost complete (ETA Tuesday) and I'm crossing my fingers that calm water is ahead - both for myself, and my customers who deserve exactly that.

The communication could and should have been better, I have no excuses for that, and will do my best to improve going forward.

In my opinion, IPv4 is more important than IPv6.

  • i think @yoursunny's tag should be renamed to IPv6 troll

  • Today nearly go mad, they set 2 ips for vps from yesterday and the new IP as main, but new ip is not reachable at all. In that case, all data is not forwarding to backen server,I do not know it until my customer complaint. I check the old ip,it is online,my monitor system did not send alert for offline, but outboud minitor system can not sent alert,as the main ip is not routeable.
I quickyly login the control pannel and set the old IP as MAIN,then all return to normal now.

There are good and valid reasons behind this. It's not ideal to do it this way, but the systems we have to work with on such short scale emergency notice are not meant for anything of this scale.

The VPS control panel market is unfortunately a shambles, both SolusVM 2 and Virtualizor have major issues. The plan is to get these migrations finished and find a new control panel which will mean that any future migrations (for which I hope there are none, sincerely) are handled with much more ease, for everyone involved.

I am actively looking at creating my own control panel with only the features our customers deserve, and need - not a bunch of fluff that just creates a bloated product that's full of bugs.

Had there have been months to prepare, the situation right now would have been very different, but, we are where we are and just need to focus on getting the job done.

  • I know you do much work on it,for my situation,as you set the new IP as main and network is not valid yet,in that case, all the data can not be forwarded to backend, that cause me too much trouble.
If you just add new IP and keep the old as main,it is no problem.New IP is not reachable until now,can not be set as main.
