    Neither allows copyright IPTV.

But Hetzner is far better than OVH in regards to support.

If you have your own TV station/podcast you can use Hetzer. If it's piracy go away!

Hetzner for sure, they're more cheaper, better support and has better connectivity and peerings. But regarding your usage, you'll just receive a lot of emails of abuses

  • DMCA will be pain in the ass on both providers.

Which one would deal with ddos better? I heard a lot of people recommend ovh for their anti ddos, does hetzner compete in that?

  • wii747wii747 Member

Hetzner, Faster network speeds and better support.

I would say: IPTV is forbidden and not allowed. The answer is: none.
For legal stuff: Hetzner, OVH bandwidth is limited.

    OVH GAME.

What? Hetzner bandwidth is more limited than OVH bandwidth. Generally.

French providers really have one thing that they’re always superior on and that’s bandwidth allocation.

Look at OVH and Scaleway, extremely cheap and ”unlimited”. And they rarely limit people.

Hetzner limits at what for their cheapest dedis? Like 30 TB? I don’t remember honestly.

  • emghemgh Member

And as to the question: neither in this case.

    But generally I’d say:

Right now, OVH Game deals are better than Hetzner with their 50 % off. Much better.

When OVH is not having a promotion, Hetzner dedis are better.

And Hetzner Cloud gives more bang for the buck compred to OVH Cloud.

    But OVH if you:
    1. Got higher bandwidth requirements (in terms of size)
    2. Get DDoSd (and can’t use Cloudflare, OVH Game that is)

DDoS Protection, less support = OVH
Better hardware, cheaper prices and better support = Hetzner

SHow me a better and cheaper Hetzner alternative to OVH GAME-1.

    https://www.ovhcloud.com/en-ie/bare-metal/prices/#filterType=range_element&filterValue=game

    Game-1 - €55

    CPU : AMD Ryzen 5 5600X - 6c/12t - 3.7 GHz/4.6 GHz
    Memory : 64 GB DDR4 ECC
    Storage : SSD NVMe
Public bandwidth : 250 Mbps (burst 1 Gbps)
Private bandwidth : No private bandwidth

I think its enough. Cheaper and better hardware, overwhelming processor for 44 eur but have one time setup fee and it can be ignored if you planning to use more than 3 months

It's not near 30, else my account would have been at risk a long time ago.

All I have to go off that I'm aware is that one famous thread where they were suspended for 250 TB/month individually on multiple servers at the same time, which was deemed to be "far above" fair usage. Unfortunately the threshold isn't published so whether it's closer to 100 or 200 is anyones guess.

Completely agreed. OVH has some killer deals that are worth looking at, and Hetzner takes the cake outside of that.

As always, size up the available deals and their pros/cons with your own requirements, and make an informed decision. Not all OVH deals beat out Hetzner in every respect, though some do.

    Oh, yeah. You’re right.

Some cons compared to the GAME-1 though:

    • No DDoS protection (or kinda)
    • Only one location, Game-1 is in AUS for same price
    • Setup fee, OVH is free

So it might not be a complete slam dunk.

I agree with @Erisa at this point you really have to evaluate both providers, they’re both cheap so often details decide.

And I still think french providers are less likely to kick you off for using too much bandwidth.

  • Any chance anyone has a YABS (GB6) for one of the GAME-1 servers?

I’ve got one but have high load on (client prod) so I highly doubt it could help you

    Anyway

The processor performs like it does at other hosts

Network is like OVH game network with other processors

Servers’ in Limburg and very happy with the stability @fixxation

After the fire incident it felt good go choose a very newly built DC

  • Nice one, thanks @emgh - I was interested in London but looks like I may have missed the boat, as they're out of stock - hopefully some will be back in stock soon

I think the GAME-1 is one of their prioritized servers to restock generally, certainly one of their flagships and built with mostly new hardware as well

I think you’ll be able to get one soon, probably gets cancelled often too
