Shared hosting is for running a website.. And a website needs to have a FQDN

I am impressed with what @ViridWeb has done here. I hope it brings them much goodwill and business. I do not need this free service today, so I did not request an account. The next time I need a VPS or shared hosting, I will look at ViridWeb.
