Would it be possible to include the 1GB plan this time? It’s been a huge pity that I didn’t get one last CM.

To be honest, the 512GB and very soon the 1GB plans will be phased out, when it gets to the point that you don't have enough ram to install the latest stable releases from ISO's the volume of tickets makes the plan not worth having.

I definitely can resonate with this plan! I have to admit that starting 2023. even 1G RAM seems to be not enough in many cases. Yeah, all is fine until that service using 250MB is running there, and then suddenly when I do OS update I get an OOM. Of course, a bit of swap could've helped there, but I have avoided using swap space for a decade, for many practical reasons!

Generally, I decided to cancel all remaining 1G RAM VPS this year, as good as they might have been otherwise, concluding that 1G RAM is just not enough today.

I do understand that there are people running wireguards on 64MB RAM and never patching their OS and stuff like that, but... it's 2023. we need to move on.

On the bright side, the cost of hardware is in a permanent deflation, so you can probably get 2G RAM now for the same price as 512M RAM costed only 5 years ago.

    Yep I completely agree.

Sadly many many people compensate for lack of ram by increasingly bigger swap files and then the performance just drops as people start to use 3000 IOPS just to exist because they want Ubuntu 22 with a 600 MB kernel and mysql/ngingx stack + Wordpress and.... why have I been suspended?????

I don't blame people though, you don't know what you don't know, so its better just to remove the temptation :D

I am not saying you cant do it, I am saying the majority of people don't know any better.

Yeah, it's just one of many reasons why I think swap nowadays makes no sense at all (or being cheap and ordering service with not enough RAM), but you're right, most people don't even understand how much damage they do with such decisions first to you as hosting provider, and then on everybody else using the same host node. Because, they will essentially monopolize resources there, ruin the party for everyone, but then, of course, also complain that everything is slow, yadda, yadda...

Basically, I'm commenting here just to support your idea of not offering very low RAM VPS anymore, because somebody else will then have to deal with 100% busy storage and lose time debugging and explaining that to clueless customers. Just a sane business decision on your part, IMHO.

In any case, thanks for great service @InceptionHosting, I won't be ordering anything this time 'cause I'm 10G/traffic freak (it seems), but I've been very happy with what I already have from you, you're doing a great job! (just to be a little bit on topic with the last sentence )

  • Are BGP sessions offered? If so, any fees associated with getting one?

  • Good provider for 2 years I think never had issue, even if I am blacklisted on next abuse report to have service terminated due resource "gliches" mostly out of ram mem leak and swap cpu use : >:)

    hehe.

have done all the usual... still remains with the 2021 kernel

    my php-friends-vps runs latest kernel:
    "friends 5.10.0-21-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 5.10.162-1 (2023-01-21) x86_64"

my InceptionHosting vps runs (after apt update, apt upgrade) still:
    "incept 5.10.0-8-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 5.10.46-5 (2021-09-23) x86_64"

Possibly, you're missing linux-image-amd64 meta package that should pull the newest kernel for you.

    You can try this sequence:

    apt-get update
    apt-get install linux-image-amd64
    reboot

Std disclaimer: this is not Linux support forum nor topic, and there's not enough info from your side to be sure that the commands above won't mess up your system. So, if you break it, you get to keep both pieces, don't come back complaining again.
