Middle East Speedtest
I want to replace my UAE EC2 instances with something cheaper that have comparable network performance and latency.

There are very few independent datacentres in the middle east - unless there's a new provider I don't know about, your options really are, AWS, Azure, Alibaba Cloud and the NetApp alliance.
Oneprovider has VPS there but never tried it
Out of stock
I ordered one yesterday, so keep checking
So far, ok network, sub 10ms from within etisalat and du.
Im monitoring it long term before I use it for anything critical … for now.
I saw it (UAE location) as in stock when I checked in the panel. Didn’t buy it though
Compared to this one your AWS machine wins:
This is single-homed etisalat and by those ping numbers I suspect some of the destinations routing through Europe or Singapore.
But if you don't need much disk space and care mainly for UAE, it should work.
@loay how did you do that second graph (latency ms)? Which tools is that?
Thank you for the bench. The graph is from Amazon blog announcement of the UAE region.
try @LightNode https://www.lightnode.com/
@loay
Have been looking for Dubai VPS for like good price, I get around 19MS from Pakistan on OneProvider and 25 MS on lightnode servers.
Lightnode pricing is pretty decent for middle east. AWS has been eating my wallet pretty much in many ways.
Thank you. Can you please share more info about lightnode middle east locations? They have servers in Egypt, Saudi and Kuwait! This is interesting.
for me im in saudi arabia so my ms like 10 to 15 its okay with me and u can check the ping in the lightnode website
Thank you. I want to check their network for other locations too (mainly Egypt and Lebanon).
I think Frankfurt location is the best option for my use case. Linode/Akami and OVH provide the best overall network performance for both the Gulf and Egypt.
where is your location i will check the best for you
Egypt & Saudi
if u want frankfurt im personally used this and i have some 10€ per year

from @xTom
Going with Linode Frankfurt. Not that close to what I needed but the best overall performance.
Have been looking for Dubai VPS for like good price
that vps the 10€ per year i use it for personal vpn and wp website its great and good internet
and sorry for my bad english language
check lightnode starting 7$ per month
let me do a speed test for you

This is actually great. Thanks for sharing it, going to get one for sure. I fixed the formatting:
EC2 Bahrain probably has the best latency to Europe in the area. Finding sub 100ms latency to Europe from that part of the middle east is really difficult.
Yes, but why would you do that?
Latency to Middle East Comparison
I would look at Melbicom, they have vps in Fujairah, UAE.
Sorry I was under the impression that you wanted low latency to locations in Europe. Thus far, that has been my main purpose of getting a VPS in the middle east (mostly to use as a multi-hop VPN to get lower latencies to europe).
Yes, see the benchmark above: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/3641137/#Comment_3641137 but it's not really good for Egypt and that benchmark does not show a good latency to Saudi Arabia.
For Egypt and Middle East I would check a provider in Europe with TI Sparkle.
@loay LightNode network looks like limited to 50-100Mbps.
LightNode 1 Core Intel 2GB RAM - 7.71 USD | UAE (Dubai) |
LightNode 1 Core Intel 2GB RAM - 7.71 USD | Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) |
Also, the performance is not that good. I want something that have good latency on all of those locations.
I think the best and more reliable so far is Linode but will check TI Sparkle.
