Koofr Vault - New feature free for all plans
Koofr just ended the year with a bang!
They just announced a new feature, Koofr Vault (best compared to pCloud Crypto), that is an encrypted folder inside your Koofr storage. This feature is included for free in all plans
- Open Source
- Compatible with rclone
Powerful, open source client-side encryption. Unlock enhanced security for your most sensitive files with Koofr Vault.
Pretty awesome X-MAS gift. pCloud charges for pCloud Crypto :P

Ok
Do you trust these random storage services?
I use Cryptomator for senstive data. For not so sensitive stuff it's better than no extra encryption and Koofr has been around for quite a while not making any attempts to make themselves look like a scam. Their Vault is open source, too. Worth a try. If you won't trust anything it'll be hard to use any cloud service that is not self-hosted. And even then you'd have to trust the FOSS.
I've been using Koofr for years and it's been rock solid. I've always used cryptomator or rclone until now, but this could make it a lot easier to use.
From looking more at Koofr Vault, I can see they just implemented rclone directly into the browser/client and that makes me feel a lot more secure in its security.
That sounds great, if they indeed just leverage rclone and make it easily accessible via webbrowser while (ofc) also continuing to support CLI.
Try uploading some copyrighted stuff and see
Koofr has never been problematic.
they cleared in some thread on reddit that they only have problem with copyrighted content when it is shared on mass level and they get a report from some anti-piracy firm.
However with vault I don't think that would be a problem, as everything will be encrypted.

Yes, they said:
Koofr doesn’t have any automatic background scans of files, as stated in our privacy policy.
The only files that can get reviewed are those that users publicly share through links, those can be scanned for potentially malicious or illegal content if reported by someone as such or if suspicious activity is detected on the public link by our security system.
But those files are already made public by the user, and we are required by law to act if we are notified by someone that illegal content is being shared publicly through our service. Files that are not publicly shared are never accessed by Koofr employees or any software, unless a user action is triggering the access (like creating a thumbnail or pdf file preview when needed by user).
You cannot share illegal files publicly over our platform as per our Terms of service. Password protection on link does not give you a free pass on this rule.
Like you said, if link is reported by someone, we are obligated to review the report. If you create a protected link and no one reports it as malicious, it will not be scanned.
Source.
So basically they don't give a shit what you store there as long you don't create links, spread them around and someone report it.
I was thinking about buying koofr 1 TB plan from stacksocial and found JOY30 code in some old thread on this forum.
However JOY30 code has expired. Is there any other good discount code for koofr except KOOFR? Thanks
Wait for Xmas and New Year, I'm sure there will be some discount coupons. I may have to grab my first Koofr plan too.
@Ympker, how is your experience with cryptomator?
If you're using rclone, why not just use the encryption support built-in to rclone? Then you can guarantee that Koofr don't have the encryption key.
It worked until now. I am always waiting for the day it stops working lol
It's just more convenient to drop files in the browser window. I don't need the assurance that they don't have the encryption key as any sensitive files I'd store with Cryptomator anyway. At some point I decided to trust them not do this. Ofc, I could always keep thinking about what if....happened, but then I remembered there are enough people uploading who knows what to GDrive, OneDrive etc totally unencrypted without even thinking about encryption. And I prefer convenient GUI (web browser upload) over cli on my Gaming Rig or Android client.
I just uploaded a 480 MB video file to my vault and tried to find it on my Android device using their default play store app. And I can't see the VAULT option anywhere in it.
How to decrypt on Android? any ideas?
Probablly need to use rclone for android.

alright thanks. I have to check now how to use this app?
I hope stacksocial releases coupons for Christmas / New Year soon - Need to buy koofr 1 TB this time.
If anyone finds a good coupon (like 30 percent off) then please do share in this thread. Thanks.
Did you want monthly discount or lifetime? They currently have this which isn't too bad.

I want lifetime 1 TB plan
There was 30 percent off coupon shared earlier: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/3566447#Comment_3566447 - but it is now expired.
Waiting for new coupon for Christmas/New year.
Right now on that stacksocial page only coupon code KOOFR is working, but when I convert 112.xx USD to my local currency it's still too much for me. Thanks
MERRY15 is their Christmas coupon, 15% off everything on site.
thanks for the coupon.
KOOFR code gives slightly more discount than that.
thanks again.
wow didn't know! in for a koofr extra 1tb!
really bro?
I posted KOOFR code thrice in this thread. lol.
similarly if you use WINDSCRIBE code here: https://stacksocial.com/sales/windscribe-pro-3-year-subscription - you get extra discount on top of existing discount.
Necro ... a bit, but it may be worth to mention.
250GB lifetime Koofr plan at stacksocial has gone. Only 100GB and 1TB are left. This could mean that they are slowly moving away from stacksocial.
Many good lifetime deals slowly leaving Stacksocial. Koofr is great. Get it while you can
Don't worry. Other businesses will grab the free spots. Other offer will come from various providers wanting to rise.
My problem is the following message at checkout with Koofr offers: "Coupons cannot be used with this sale." Now this is a clear indicator with regards to Koofr leaving Stacksocial. There was no such message before.
Yeah, I really regret going with the Internxt lifetime over Koofr. I just opened a free Koofr account to see how it is, and the WebDAV functionality was pretty fast.
Yup, works awesome
