    Hi,
    Am I the only one to have small issues with IPv6 in greencloud?
    I have two VPSes (Frankfurt + Amsterdam).

    IPv6 seems to be working, but from time to time I've noticed that after longer inactivity ping fails with

    # ping 2001:4860:4860::8888
    PING 2001:4860:4860::8888(2001:4860:4860::8888) 56 data bytes
    From XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:9e::5b29 icmp_seq=1 Destination unreachable: Address unreachable
    64 bytes from 2001:4860:4860::8888: icmp_seq=2 ttl=60 time=1.40 ms
    64 bytes from 2001:4860:4860::8888: icmp_seq=3 ttl=60 time=0.683 ms
    64 bytes from 2001:4860:4860::8888: icmp_seq=4 ttl=60 time=0.646 ms

    Then the rest is fine, until another longer break happens.

    I've tested sending one ping every 5 minutes (with no other network activity over IPv6):

    # ping -i 310 2001:4860:4860::8888
    PING 2001:4860:4860::8888(2001:4860:4860::8888) 56 data bytes
    From XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:9e::5b29 icmp_seq=1 Destination unreachable: Address unreachable
    From XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:9e::5b29 icmp_seq=2 Destination unreachable: Address unreachable
    From XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:9e::5b29 icmp_seq=3 Destination unreachable: Address unreachable
    From XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:9e::5b29 icmp_seq=4 Destination unreachable: Address unreachable

    I've noticed that when this happens the outcome of ip -6 ne shows:
    XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1 dev eth0 router FAILED
    then the first ping fails, router goes to REACHABLE and pings are working fine.

    I've done a tcpdump:

    12:50:36.094065 IP6 fe80::216:3cff:fe54:626d > XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1: ICMP6, neighbor solicitation, who has XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1, length 32
    12:50:37.117979 IP6 fe80::216:3cff:fe54:626d > XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1: ICMP6, neighbor solicitation, who has XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1, length 32
    12:50:38.141986 IP6 fe80::216:3cff:fe54:626d > XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1: ICMP6, neighbor solicitation, who has XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1, length 32

    There is no response to solicitation.

    Output of ip -6 mon:

    XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1 dev eth0 router FAILED
    XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1 dev eth0 lladdr XX:XX:XX:19:54:91 router STALE
    XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1 dev eth0 lladdr XX:XX:XX:19:54:91 router PROBE
    XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1 dev eth0 router FAILED
    XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1 dev eth0 router FAILED
    XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1 dev eth0 lladdr XX:XX:XX:19:54:91 router REACHABLE
    XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1 dev eth0 lladdr XX:XX:XX:19:54:91 router STALE
    XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1 dev eth0 lladdr XX:XX:XX:19:54:91 router PROBE
    XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1 dev eth0 router FAILED

    Last test:

    # ndisc6 -w 10000 XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1 eth0
    Soliciting XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1 (XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1) on eth0...
    Timed out.
    Timed out.
    Timed out.
    No response.

    Manually forcing:
    ip -6 neigh add XXXX:XXXX:XXXX::1 lladdr XX:XX:XX:19:54:91 nud permanent dev eth0
    Solves the issue, but it should not be the way to go.

    Both systems are Ubuntu 22.04, no firewall config messing with ICMPv6.
    I have exactly the same setups with two other providers, everything works fine there.
    I've contacted the support (they do respond quickly!), but the final conclusion is
    We have checked and did not see any configuration error on our side

    I've found someone with similar problem (but not with GreenCloud), but there was no clear answer what was the reason:

    https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/3068387#Comment_3068387

    To me lack of response to neighbor solicitation is misconfig from GC side, but I've been wrong millions of times in my life ;)

    Forgot to add one thing:
    when the router is in FAILED state and I ping something the solicitation goes through, but not over link-local interface:

    12:00:51.246811 IP6 2a0c:XXXX:XXXX::1 > 2a0c:XXXX:XXXX:9e::5b29: ICMP6, neighbor advertisement, tgt is 2a0c:XXXX:XXXX::1, length 32

    so it looks to me like the routers have sending over link-local interfaces blocked.

    We have already upgraded our Budget KVM in HCM City to Xeon Gold 6148: https://greencloudvps.com/billing/store/budget-kvm-sale
    If you still need EPYC and can wait a few weeks, we then have OpenStack Cloud Computes there, which will enter the beta version soon: EPYC Milan for computes, CEPH HA with NVMe 4.0, Fleio Control Panel, etc.

    So excited to see GreenCloud OpenStack! I'll look forward to trying it out.

    Hi @NDTN, apparently I'm not the one who had issues with Greencloud's misconfigured IPv6 and had to apply workarounds to have it work reliably: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/3501302#Comment_3501302

    By default solicitation works this way:
    host sends ND using the link-local interface to router and is supposed to get a response. It does not work in your network, there's no response to ND:

    # ndisc6 2a0c:XXXX:XXXX::1 eth0
    Soliciting 2a0c:XXXX:XXXX::1 (2a0c:XXXX:XXXX::1) on eth0...
    Timed out.
    Timed out.
    Timed out.
    No response.

    But sending this from global address works as expected:

    # ndisc6 -s 2a0c:XXXX:XXXX:8f::8f 2a0c:XXXX:XXXX::1 eth0
    Soliciting 2a0c:XXXX:XXXX::1 (2a0c:XXXX:XXXX::1) on eth0...
    Target link-layer address: XX:XX:XX:XX:54:91
     from 2a0c:XXXX:XXXX::1

    Too bad that we can't force OS to use the global address for this. We have to permanently add router's IP and MAC address, but it's a dirty workaround that can stop working once router's MAC changes.

    Not to mention the fact that the RA messages sent by your routers contain wrong IP addresses and break IPv6 connectivity. The workaround for this is adding:

    net.ipv6.conf.all.accept_ra=0
    net.ipv6.conf.eth0.accept_ra=0
    net.ipv6.conf.all.autoconf=0
    net.ipv6.conf.eth0.autoconf=0

    to /etc/sysctl.conf
    Funny enough the second fix is even mentioned in your docs (maybe should be baked into the default image?).

    Too many workarounds for something that could be fixed with proper configuration, don't you think?

    This is common at many providers.
    Hypervisor drops outgoing traffic that doesn't match the assigned subnet.
    Solution is ndpresponder:

    That's another workaround, thanks!
    I don't run Docker on my VPSes, these are just simple Ubuntu machines with few services on it.
    But seeing that there are providers without these issues it makes me wonder, why GreenCloud (which basically delivers good quality VPSes) can't work this out, and support tells me that they don't see any problem with their configuration...

    this is insane ... and it seemed to be deployed already even before I could hit the PAY button 😂😂😂

    can you shed some light on that RAID10 ? is it hardware or ZFS or what are you using? If the caching can keep up with network speed and proxmox backup server writing chunks, that's gonna be the most amazing storage offer I've seen so far.

    are you planning something comparable for other european locations?

    Hi @NDTN

    If I buy a VPS with 2GB or more RAM, from your Budget or Premium KVM sale/promotion, can I then buy/add an unlimited Directadmin license, per extra €5/month? Thanks

    We are using 32 drives in LSI hardware RAID-10 with Cachevault + 4 spare drives for Hot Spares (total 36 drives). Next year we will have the storage nodes deployed in Frankfurt, DE and Coventry, UK.

    Unfortunately we no longer offer DirectAdmin internal license.

    is that the same storage setup you use in Singapore or just NL for now? If those NL speeds are maintained as the node fills up, I'm gonna grab a service.

    We have the same setup for SG DC2 (currently out of stock) and SJC. The test VM was provisioned on a production node, so you would have the same speed if you order now or in the future.

    Maybe you can take a look at our VDS: https://greencloudvps.com/billing/store/epyc-nvme-kvm-vds

    Hi @NDTN, I just bought EPYC NVMe KVM VDS on greencloudvps. but upon receiving the email there's a note saying "Note: Traffic Exchange software/Gameservers or any heavy CPU utilizing software are NOT allowed on our KVM VPS." Does it mean that I'am using VPS and not VDS? and actually there's a chance that my site will consume all the allotted resources, what happen to my account then? are you gonna ban immediately as per reviews of others?

    We use the same email template for all KVM plans. If your plan is a VDS, then you can use 100% of the resources with no issue.
