"and the interpretation of the rules as the staff see fit."
What the fuck is this? Dude, you're on a power trip. You're a mod but you act like you're the second coming of Jesus himself.
Not at all. If you were to meet me in person, you'd see what I mean. However, the amount of disruption by a few individuals has been so great that someone had to step up and enforce the rules. I don't need to be on a power trip. I don't gain anything by acting tough here. But when one is cornered, an ugly side comes out. I'm actually very sad that I have to reply this way. This isn't what I want, but it is what is needed. I, as a staff member have made a decision to engage the shyer, newer members of our community. How I do it shouldn't matter to some. That's all there is to it. I do like the fact that you call me out on the power trip, it brings a balance to the forum. I really, really dislike this 'tough guy' persona I have to play, but I am not left with many other devices. I have tried other methods, and they get abused by others, or are seen as a sign of weakness. I want what is best for LET. It's up to you If you believe that or not.
touch grass
you must be new here.
Not that Timbo wouldn't have done such a thing but where did he call Arkas stupid? Or a spammer? Asking cuz I see him explicitly not saying it ( "it doesn't make them stupid" .. "I would never call someone a spammer" ... ). Also, I'm curious to know what the history of the term "hissy fit" is here such that it rises to a level requiring a warning.
Wow man, way to double down and not listen to your community. Good job!
I suggest that we let this thread die out. It's clear even @jbiloh didn't see anything wrong with it so it's just pointless to argue over it.
penis in woman's butt
A meme? Ooooooh boy
If you're going to post content then at least do your own.
And if not can i open 100 threads with random youtube tutorials?
You can do everything if it's generating clicks. Clicks=money.
Straight Forward Suggestion.
Awesome.
Super-specific? How about halfway mastering SSH means the difference between getting easily hacked and having some security?
(a) that's a questionable premise
(b) for every 1000 noobs lacking experience and knowledge 1 might have the guts to ask for advice in the toxic environment here.
(c) but more of a sidenote, most of the oh soooo smart guys here actually have far less knowledge than they presume having.
(d) @Arkas posted a thread that's probably helpful for quite a few users. I personally am not interested but so what, I - like everyone here - am free to simply skip this thread (and I did; I only came here via another thread).
Similarly I skipped quite a few other thread of Arkas because I am not in their target group. But never did it come to my mind to mock, let alone insult Arkas, nor did Arkas ever complain about me skipping those threads, let alone get angry.
Simple rule (and in the long run painful for @jbiloh and LET): If you mock, molest, or attack those who put work into the community and create (more or less) valuable content, you'll be left with those who only consume and turn LET into a toxic sh_thole.
(e) while I agree that a mod preferably should ask another mod take care of problems in his thread, I also see that having a mod tag should and does not put a "perfect victim, just bring it on" tag on a mod.
I personally am not interested in SSH 101 content, but many are and so I say: Thank you Arkas!

Hooray! Bravo @jsg!
No more molesting the mods.
