Do the beta servers run raid 1? I remember the previous one didn't

    Nice offer @Advin !
I'm gonna ask if it OK to do some compilation work occasionally on an Amsterdam - KVM Memory VPS - KVM Beta High Memory S G2 or an Amsterdam - KVM Standard S
? It happens once or twice a day, and takes ~20min/compilation.

  • Invoice #9540
    Double BW! thank you

And I make a mistake in Invoice #9539,that I forgot use coupon.

Can you cancel it and refund to my account?

  • @Advin
    Double Bandwidth please
    Invoice #9542
    thanks

is it SSD? or just something wrong with my node?
4K performance looks very bad, doesn't appear to be SSD

    Block Size | 4k (IOPS) | 64k (IOPS)

    Total | 3.14 GB/s (6.1k) | 3.64 GB/s (3.5k)

The performance you have shown is quite normal for an NVMe, I don't see where the problem is. You can search online for similar benchmarks of NVMe SSD performance if you would like, it is in line with expectations (and way above a standard SATA SSD).

The 4k result for an HDD would be ~10-20 MB/s, definitely not 100+ MB/s.

  • Could you plz double the BW of invoice 9537?

Your other server is likely using some type of RAID with a lot of disks in RAID10/RAID0/etc, or is using some sort of caching (i.e. RAM caching) in order to achieve that 4K disk result.

You can see that in reviews like these, the 4K speed is usually 50-100 MB/s for single Gen3 NVMe SSD's:
    https://appuals.com/samsung-970-evo-plus-m-2-nvme-ssd-review/
That performance seems in line with expectations.

Please note that we do not guarantee Gen4 NVMe SSD, or even NVMe SSD at all, the product page states that it could be NVMe or SATA (and those results are well above a SATA SSD). A lot of our host nodes are running Gen3 NVMe SSD.

I would also take a look at HDD benchmarks or other Yabs benchmarks from other VPS providers that use Gen3 NVMe SSD or standard SATA SSD. If it was not SSD, the 4k performance would be 1/10th the speed that you are seeing.

A lot of our host nodes are running pure Gen3/Gen4 NVMe SSD, and your benchmark seems in line with expectations.
