Tokyo is not as good as LA and NL.

GB5 runs some AES benchmarks, so when CPU passthrough is off, it can cause GB5 to show low performance as AES-NI is disabled.

For the rest of our locations, since we use RYZEN or EPYC, we set the CPU flag to show as AMD EPYC. Doing this means that AES-NI is enabled, despite CPU passthrough being off. We can't do this for our Intel-based systems as the CPU's are new.

Please open a ticket and we will enable CPU passthrough for you which should also passthrough the AES-NI flag that is required for GB5 to show accurate results.

  • Is there a windows server available? Do I have to manually install or just provide a license? I scanned through the thread.

I cancelled already because they don't support Windows.

I read the FAQ, it says raise a ticket for windows. There is an option to reinstall OS and there are a few Windows versions there but in the FAQ they said that is the old method so we need to raise a request.

KVM Standard VPS has Windows templates by default (2012R2, 2019, 2022) but KVM High Memory doesn't.

We can mount an installation ISO along with the VirtIO drivers for you if you'd like over a ticket 😉

  • How is billing done with Advin? Is it prepay? Or can you just pay one month at a time on CC without the logging in each month to add funds?

If you want automatic payments, you can choose Stripe legacy payments at checkout and it will automatically withdraw from your credit card each month.

If you want to just pay one time, you can choose our Stripe Checkout option which will redirect you to Stripe.com's order form (which has to be done manually each month).

Billing is prepaid, meaning that you pay for the month in advance.

Ok. I guess the more direct question, and I think you answered it, is the billing like vpsserver? They have a system on which you can add a CC but you need to "fund the account" with the CC and then the price of the service is deducted from the "account". You can "prepay" or fund the account for future months, but if you want month to month, you have to log in each month and "fund the account"... It gets to be a nightmare without a prediction algorithm to figure out how much of a balance to keep in the "account"...

If you use the automatic Stripe legacy gateway option, it just pulls the required amount automatically every month :)

Did they install it for you? I got fed up waiting for them to respond to my open ticket and I followed reinstalled OS from the server panel.
I installed 2019, it works fine. It says evaluation only.
I can buy a licence from a reseller.

I just don't know why they don't just charge a bit extra on top or advise this before signing up.

Not many of our clients run Windows, and those who do, usually bring their own licenses. Not many low end providers offer genuine Windows licenses too, since licensing contracts with Microsoft can be expensive

It's not really feasible for us to provide Windows licenses at our margins and price point at the moment. Even if we charged extra, I still don't believe it's worth it for us at the moment. Maybe in the future?

  • That's cool, I am glad you have the image to install at least, then I can just buy a key. I just don't want to mess about having to install an image.
    Its working fine :)

  • IPV6 in tokyo doesn't work anymore.
