Today I just got this e-mail from servdiscount, that they increase server price by 20%.

We are pleased that you are our customer! We're contacting you today to let you know about an upcoming change to your subscription.
From October 1st, 2022, the basic fee of your contract will increase by 20%. The change will take effect for you when the next payment is due, on or after October 1st, 2022. You can see the next payment period in your customer account.
The following contracts are affected by this price adjustment:

We are making this change in light of general and significant cost changes due to the sharp increase in inflation. These lead to an increase in costs in almost all areas of the operation of your server and software and are based on external circumstances that we cannot influence.

everyone will increase... they still wanna make a lot of profit.... im not talking about the small hosting companies... but everyone wanna feel their pokets.... so we eighter pay or move away and that will kill the small bussines....
Really? What are you offering to do, if the energy price increased 4 - 6 times? No one is talking about profit, forget that. It is a matter of survival.
I was wondering what would happen if they prices had dropped... I'm 1000% sure none of the providers would dropped the prices you already agreed on in the contracts... but ofc I could be wrong.... also noone cares that the most income of the clients are the same...
We will remove the energy consumption fee, which we added to invoices for new/old customers. We didn't increase the base price of services.
Some providers will not drop prices when the energy crisis ends.
I would drop it after crisis because of competiton and to make faster/more sales + growth. Don't wanna loose a customer.
But Im even trying to avoid to increase where I can.

Electricity was major cost even when it cost like 6cents/kWh ... when it costs you 60, 75 cents kWh you are in deep shit. 10-12x increase on major expense is nothing to sniff at and shrug away. Current new contracts in Finland are around the 60cents/kWh mark ...
Spain & Germany said they will reduce the VAT for energy and gas to help the middle class to survive the winter... i bet the hosting companies, most of them will keep rising the prices...
For business VAT means nothing, you get that refunded regardless.
Here too, our govt solution was 600 million euro package of communism. Would have said socialism, but they are also raising taxing for businesses who benefit from this, a "windfall" tax

Well, California just yesterday had some sort of energy crisis AGAIN, and let's not forget that California has had an on-going energy crisis for what, a decade now? Skyhigh electricity prices, unstable grid.

Biden administration has been hard at work to cause a energy crisis in USA, they stopped giving permits for new fields / explorations, stopped a pipeline project, sold huge amount of US strategic reserves to Chinese company in which Hunter has a stake in.
