getmail ?
imapsync seems to be for migrating from one server to another, not local disk backups. getmail may be it, will check it out. Thanks!
There's a ruby based script that runs pretty well.
If you mean https://github.com/joeyates/imap-backup I tried it. It's nice but I'd prefer the backup to be a regular Maildir with emails accessible and searchable as files.
I am testing https://www.offlineimap.org/ now. Seems to work well.
ah, yes, that's it. I think it does provide some utilities to let you search the emails, but not 100% sure and it's probably not in a plain text format.
mbsync? https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/isync , if you are on linux/bsd. You can pair it with mu(https://github.com/djcb/mu/) and get very good search(backed by xapian) locally as well.
