    /dev/null/

Does not look like a valid option, either.

    root@srv:~# stat /dev/null/
stat: cannot statx '/dev/null/': Not a directory

We are not technologically advanced enough to explore that hyperspace.

Well, in the end it was just trolling about a tiny typo. :)

As for the explanation, /dev/null is a device file and not a directory, which the erroneously appended trailing slash would indicate.

Yet you can create a file in that infinite hyperspace.

Strictly (and not to philosophically) speaking this 'file' already exists and has always been there. How can we 'create' one there?

We cannot 'store' a file there as we are used to do.

    root@srv:~# mv foobar /dev/null
mv: rename foobar to /dev/null: Operation not supported

Luckily we can dump our content into that infinite hyperspace.

    dd if=foobar of=/dev/null works.

But what if we need to store more than one file?

Hypothesis: Can we picture /dev/null as an 'infinite tape'?

Yes: tar -cf /dev/null foo bar actually works.

And if we should encounter problems reading from /dev/null, there is a read-write version of it called /dev/zero. :)

(Actually I wasn't aware before that /dev/zero is also writable like /dev/null.)

If you throw something at the trash bin and it doesn't go in, you don't get the result that it went in.

Make sure you only write zeros into it though, or else you might break it for the next person! ;)

We should all try this, setup alt accounts as hot ladies and see how much better we’re treated and how much free stuff we can get.

Did you just assume providers feel sexually aroused within LET community?

If you’d had the sort of PMs I’ve had from folks who think I’m a woman, you’d know this to be true.
