You might as well have 2x and use LVM to stripe them for double the speed
The servers are preconfigured and cannot be modified unless you're adding hardware.
I do not think you will double the speed quite yet. Access time will get rather extended while most other benches will indeed get 40% or a little more improved.
But I still might want to do LVM as it extends the volume to 1TB while improving overall performance quite a bit.

I don't have YABS, but we have GTT, Comcast, TATA, and Any2 peering there. Peak usage is < 20% network capacity currently.

YABS refers to Yet Another Bench Script, and my guess is that they want to see performance of the dedis in general and not solely to know your network blend.

No, it uses NVMe, we don't stock any HW RAID cards compatible with NVMe and typically recommend using SW RAID. Our techs can configure SW RAID for you free of charge.
