Hello, @Virmach I need your technical support, my ticket number #195517, about the IP problem, thank you!
Still waiting
I'll see if we can start excluding these from being eligible to use it but I suppose you'd have to make a ticket to add it back if you're in that situation.
Dinnae do that, ya spoilsport!
I've deliberately held off on trying, until you are in a position to match the original. Wouldn't want to needlessly burden you with yet another Ticket.
Thanks.
Honestly, I've been considering making the unpopular decision of removing multiple IP addresses for the move to Ryzen, and then offer people who are upset a pro-rated refund or potentially a reduction in pricing by 10% of the value of the plan. We probably have a lot of BF special offers where it only made sense to do the additional IP addresses because that specific node it was originally created on just had a lot of IP addresses left over and this doesn't really translate when it's migrated over. This also adds a lot of extra work on our end once we move thousands of these by the end of Ryzen migrations. But removing all additional IP addresses and automatically providing said discount and message could end up being a lot smoother, and I'm sure it would make the majority of people who don't plan on using the additional IP addresses happy (and it also automatically resolves all cases where they did want it by at least providing a pro-rated refund should someone want to discontinue their service as a result.)
Of course by default we understand it isn't a nice thing to do and some people do actually require and use the additional IP address, so let me know what you guys think.
Whether or not we move forward this way, some time in the future, maybe 5 or 10 years from now, if IPv4 price trends continue toward the insane, it will have to be something we would have to heavily consider if we're going to maintain our policy of no price increases. That, and any packages that originally came advertised with Windows licensing, the two main things out of our control.
@AlwaysSkint, what do you think? In your case you'll get your additional IP back since it wouldn't affect you as you already completed the change but how would you feel if it ended up happening as described above?
Tokyo Storage - I'm going to see if it's plausible to create a ticket for everyone who ordered in Tokyo and give them the option to reply back and activate early, or just wait. To activate early, you'd basically have to reply back and confirm you want it activated even though it will be an "incomplete" product in that it will not ship out with 1Gbps port. Alternatively, we might just activate everyone and just extend the due date maybe by a few weeks to a month out and the initial period will be considered "free" AKA you're not paying for it so don't complain about it just yet.
The language barrier will probably result in even more tickets.
First service activated as such.
Incomplete is not a problem, unreliable is. I would rather wait if it's a test mode.
Not sure what this means. "incomplete" how? You already said before that storage would not have a 10 Gbps port on the node yet and would be 1Gbps shared. Would you be limiting VPSes to 100 Mbps or something?
I limit downloads/uploaded to ~20 Mbps sustained over 4 to 6 hours. Will this be an issue?
EDIT: From what you said below. I think "incomplete" gives the wrong impression. The only thing you seem to be missing is the 10 Gbps port. Otherwise it seems like a really nice build.
If it is free you will get no complaints from me, but there are others out there that I expect will complain no matter what you do, even if it is free.
I'm still waiting for my vps to respawn
I don't suspect much else to go wrong outside of the 1Gbps port, but I guess I'm being very cautious and a little anxious moving forward seeing as this is our first launched fully self-built and configured storage server on Ryzen and we have absolutely been unlucky in a lot of ways and a lot of unexpected issues did already occur with Ryzen.
It's a brand new RAID controller, with cache. Everything is healthy. All the disks are brand new as well and I ran a good amount of testing in case a few of them fail (this does happen with hard drives if they come from a bad batch.)
I don't know, I guess we'll just have to see?
I have couple service with multi IP. Personally I don't feel a additional discount would made up as the price is already low. The value of some of these package only come from the fact they have more than IP. A ressource increase could be better, but still not perfect.
That said, I got that IP shortage is a issues.
I spent $3 to move from Phoenix to LA with no success, I can wait and won't create a new ticket to add to your burden.
Well, I think VirMach is talking about storage offers. If it is unrelated quote, it will only confuse them.
One of my storage box is finally active!
You must've been skim reading: I haven't moved it - yet.
Personally, I've held onto this BF2019 based almost entirely on the additional two IPs and is the only thing that prevented me from grabbing more deals, in subsequent years. The VM is worth much more to me in its current form, than it would be with uprated CPU, ex-coloncrossing and raped of its additional IP. Any reduction in cost and/or increase in other resources wouldn't compensate, leading to cancellation at renewal time. Not a good outcome.
I'd rather it stayed as is, for as long a possible.
Windoze is for wusses!
I believe you're the single person who got an activation so far, meaning you the first order in Japan. Let me know if it breaks.
Get chomping those beta blockers!
Misquotes don't confuse me, but they always make me think of getting apples.
I do actually also have a set of heart problems as well that run in the family. Holding off on beta blockers for now. Tachycardia and elevated blood pressure 24/7 but otherwise looks healthy. I remember the last cardiologist saying "well, I wouldn't be worried of a heart attack, the youngest I've had a patient with one of those was like 24... and you're... oh wait, you're 27?"
^Yikes! Guy across the ward from me had a 2nd pacemaker fitted at 32!
Is jealous of the number of years that you have on me - rapidly approaching 60.
Hey, you might last longer. The last heart "event" I had was a couple months back and all I could think was "thank god I can finally stop building these servers." I guess I need to start completing a contingency plan to avoid getting cursed at for deadpooling.
Incoming cancellation requests for "I heard from a reliable source that the owner is dying."
FYI: currently putting my Ryzen NYC Metro to good use, as I attempt to update some ecommerce templates.
Noticing 4-7% steal fairly constantly - piss off, abusers. (Not concerning me, really.)
@VirMach
sense of humour.
I think this has to do with some problems with the relatively complex anti-abuse script not working well since it never expected 3.5-3.8GHz processors. It's on the to-do but the goal here is to avoid false positives for now. I'd rather have some steal than incorrectly shutting off a bunch of customers not actually abusing.
The whole thing will probably have to just be rewritten at some point.
No offense, are you overweight?
There is no need to answer, but keeping your BMI in the reference range and following your doctor's advice like sporting low-intensity routinely will help improve your heart function.
Two comments on additional IPs above: "any more for any more"?
Me: slightly, nowhere near obese. BMI upper 'green' range. Currently addressing lack of movement - too much time spent at a keyboard! Working from home means far, far less travel, walking, stairs etc. Undergoing cardiac rehab program and suffering from Intermittent Claudication.
Let this be a lesson, guys & gals.
Transferred: 1.647G / 238.847 GBytes, 1%, 9.399 MBytes/s, ETA 7h10m42sIt is doing what it should do as a storage box. However, I found a serious problem not related to you that it suppose to be 4XX GB... I need to check whats happening to my backup.
