This is what OVH calls "Free setup"

Check the calculations again. The setup fee charges are, in fact, zero.

I saw later, but still is at least strange to be free setup as 4.99, somewhere in the corner of the room math is crying.

There is a discount of $5.94 at the end to offset that $4.99 setup (+VAT) fees to make it effectively free

  • What does the SYS "16 IPs with no monthly fees" actually mean? I kind of want get the christmas deal just to test out virtualization, and I would like a few extra ips for that. When I try to click on the link it just gives me a 404

You pay a one of setup fee up to 16 IP addresses. After 16 IP addresses they will charge you per month per additional IP address.

    Makes sense.

Also, can you install a custom os from an iso? Their listing says they only provide up to CentOS 7 and Debian 10, but it might be out of date though.

  • Hi everyone, I bought a KS-1 and after 16 hours is still not ready, on the billing page it says
"Server preparation and set up In progress"

Is normal given the offer or maybe something went wrong?
    Thanks

  • Just wait, maybe even a week.
    patience is the key

Cheapest KS currently with best hardware specs in stock right now.

Seems the special sale servers don't accept the setup-waiver promo code:

    "PromotionPricingsNotCompatible ; PROMOTION_NOT_FOUND ; Promotion SETUPKS not found ; {"promotion_code":"SETUPKS"} ; 22.61c35109.1057.5068 ; 400"

    me too

So up to 16 IPs are included in the price? That's shocking.

Nopes. You pay onetime 1.5$ or similar per IP.
Then you dont pay anything until the lifetime of your renewals upto 16 ips.

So for 15 IPs, it will cost a one time fee of $15? That sounds incredible!

    16 x $1.5 = 24$

OVH always sells more hardware as they currently have.
Given that this is stone age hardware, they can't restock it.

Only if someone cancels it, could be only a matter of weeks.

Hi everyone, I bought a KS-1 and after 16 hours is still not ready, on the billing page it says
"Server preparation and set up In progress"

Is normal given the offer or maybe something went wrong?
    Thanks

OVH always sells more hardware as they currently have.
Given that this is stone age hardware, they can't restock it.

Only if someone cancels it, could be only a matter of weeks.

Mannnnn, that probably means I got screwed as well. Ordered a server yesterday and it still only says "Being processed", and the location is sold out on the product page now. :(

I dont see the appeal of buying a rust bucket KS-1 it doesnt seem useful for an awful lot, maybe im being close-minded anyone care to explain the hype?

For me, constant shitty performance > outstanding but not so constant performance

    e.g.
I have a vps with massive storage for Plex, it's 1Gbps and it works fine most of the time. Do you know when it doesn't work? When at night I want to watch something.

So I'm willing to sacrifice everything just so I can have the same performance whenever. I just want to watch my stuff and not sys admin during the night.

Swizzin + seedbox + jellyfin + vpn for family members serving 4-5 devices 24/7 :) And all that for 5 euros. Upgraded from 1TB to 2TB for free last week. Rust can make you some cash if you use it wisely
