If this isn't a shitpost - I think you greatly over-estimate Litespeed's importance to the American tech industry and it's value for intelligence.

The CCP have much better things to invest their time in, TikTok & Zoom are better examples.

If a few shared hosting providers get knocked out by the CCP, very little of importance goes down. Nothing at a modern-day large scale relies on something like LSWS.

Percentages are also a bad idea, most web traffic is probably going via nginx/apache, (90+%) -- even if lots of sites use LSWS, a large amount of them are probably 100 view WordPress pages.

IIS powered servers are probably much more of a threat to U.S. safety than anything with CCP links, most of them are out of date and misconfigured.

I understand soft power. LSWS isn't really going to work for soft power though. Soft power requires something that would actively be engaged in by a user, e.g. CGTN or Tencent acquiring large amounts of American media companies.

LSWS isn't going to achieve that.

Not sure about your other hypotheses or statements or whatsoever, but this sentence is not true at all. Every student in China can be admitted to Nankai U as long as the pass the National High School Guaduation Exam with a certain score, regardless of their affiliations or wealth status. TBH, Nankai U isn't a top-tier university in China at all, compared to Tsinghua and Peking U and USTC and the like.

There are millions of ways of drawing nonexistent connections between things and producing seemingly plausible conclusions. Most of the time it's just chasing ghost.

Best to take these stats with a grain of salt. nginx is in a lot more places (most CDNs, load balancers and "enterprise" HTTP proxy services of that type) than a cursory inspection of the "Server" header would indicate.

cloudflare's shared should be eliminated from calculations as its just reverse-proxy.
Quite few <0.5% sites could be hosted on their Workers/CF Pages.

Majority of cloudflare sites could be Apache as '000s of web host including big ones like godaddy, ionos, bluehost, many european hosts still use Apache than litespeed or ngnix for mass-shared-hosting which are behind cloudflare-server proxy.

In such case, Apache's overall percent share could rise hugely, while there can be minor rise in Ngnix (many sites hosted on vps/dedis use ngnix) and another minor rise in litespeed's share.

thanks for this thread. it actually rekindled my interest in using ols instead of nginx in aapanel.

both being "out of the box" settings, ols might be slightly faster in latency and use less memory. lets see.
