Distributed DOS on a VPS? Somebody trying to virtualize a Mainframe? :)

@ezeth: You may randomly boost #497 to support the OpenNIC community.

How's the resolver going? Did any of your OpenNIC servers attract any kind of attack/(D)DoS? I guess they are all public Tier2 servers, right?

I've been wanting to create one myself but I've been put off by the warnings on their wiki.

    Yes, all T2.

Of course networks like OVH with pretty good anti ddos are more relaxing (though they don't protect you against attacks from other OVH servers).

From my experience if you follow some best practices (strict rate limiting per IP, filtering nonsens queries like ANY etc.) it'll work and abusers simply find easier targets and amplifiers.

Of course it's an endless process (not only specific to DNS), you monitor your servers, if something happens you try to figure out a solution to address it, and keep monitoring again.

This resolver over here will be ready in 1-2 days after it's migrated to the newer slightly larger VPS.

  • DOS as in MS-DOS. Not DoS.

Why? He's talking about one VPS.

I did just enable the option to upgrade to this offer. But the request will be opened in an internal ticket requiring manual action(problematic for low end deals) after payment is done. See it as a limited offer

    Order placed: ID #294
Cant open a support ticket : It says "You do not have access to view that page"

Don't worry. It happens automatically when upgrade request is submitted. It's an internal ticket

Can you confirm the network update + random bandwidth update + snapshot

Does this include port 587 ?

    yep

Although this is only blocked on IPv4.

You can still use all ports on IPv6 including SMTP, mailing etc

Hi, It hasn't been a day yet since I disabled it. I've disabled the order form and redirected everything to that until the issue is fixed
